civic rad slim fan users.. (AN UPDATE)

Recommended Posts

high guys ever since i changed to a civic dual core radiator my slim fan seems to take to long to shut it self off. i'm not having any overheating or coolant loss either so i was just wondering if this is normal when you go civic radiator ?? i do have the fan in the right position thus blowing air toward the engine bay!! just like the oem one. here in Aruba is 24/7 hot every day so we dont have winters, maybe that have something to do with the fan staying on longer than the oem rad ??

also my rad hose seems to get harder after some hard driving? noticed on my friends oem rad type hose seems to be a lot softer ?? my rad came with a 1.3bar cap don't know it this can cause extra pressure in the system ?

will appreciate the help thanks guys

Whats the ratio of water:antifreeze? The top hose will be hard till the stat opens up iirc

Is it throwing coolant back into the overflow? Give it a hard drive, open up the bonnet and check how things are ticking over

Higher pressure rad caps are better, higher pressure = takes more to boil the water but the rest of the cooling system should be up to par

If its pressurising the system id say there's something wrong with the hg. it may be getting a tiny bit of head lift on boost.

What turbo and boost are you running?

im also thinking its the head gasket, im running a TD04l 0n 10psi boost blitz access, will up the boost once a get the fueling checked

also did a comp test yesterday came 170 172 172 172

i also just bought a cometic head gasket as last resort

Flush it out re-place the coolant bleed it and see how it goes u may need a triple core rad to attempt to combat the heat u lot experience

did that like 3 times already make sure every air is out util no bubbles still dont know why it overheats only when boosting and the fan doesn't turn off once it starts

should the td04 water line be off could that be making to much stress on the dual core ??

hi i must admit i'm using just a regular red coolant from Toyota don't need antifreeze here in Aruba!!both of my top and lower hose seems to get quite hard once warmed upper one warms first tough, ever since i installed the dual radiator it only overflowed once, never did it again its like its no working checked bottle hose and they seem fine not blocked!

i did some hard driving yesterday but i only manage to get it overheat and the over flow bottle stays the same

as soon i let go of the gas it cools it self back again but fan stays on!

by the way guys it doesn't overheat all the way in the red zone because once i let go of boost it goes back no normal temp

i can ride all day within normal temp when off boost

its just a pain :( i think i'm gonna do the HG

hi guys just an update

apparently my dual core rad was blocked,i now have a new one with a 1.3cap on it,

it doesnt overheat anymore but the rad hose still gets quite hard like under pressure ?

is this normal both the upper and lower ?

Under hard boosting I believe that is pretty normal for them to build up some pressure and go slightly hard as your pushing the engine more getting it hotter and increasing water flow to try and cool it just keep an eye on it mate but if the temp ain't climbing anymore u may of cracked it

I think he means 'cracked it' as in 'sorted the problem out' mate :)
