GT Phayer Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Well a few weeks ago my gt snapped the drivers side drive shaft in the diff (OEM LSD) and ive now got a shaft and fitted it all turns fine no weird noises in gear or in neutral but there is in and out movement on both sides.... is this normal ?http://s288.photobucket.com/albums/ll172/GTphayer/?action=view¤t=20120726_114349.mp4 Quote
StuDoc 72 Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 in an out movement on the driveshaft? as in where the CV joints are? Yeah thats normal. There shouldn't be in and out movement between the cv joint and diff. But there will be between the cv joint and drive shaft if you get me? Quote
GT Phayer Posted July 26, 2012 Author Posted July 26, 2012 yes both sided mate between the cv and the gearbox Quote
StuDoc 72 Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 No its between the cv joint and drive shaft not the gearbox. Quote
GT Phayer Posted July 26, 2012 Author Posted July 26, 2012 yer ive got that which is normal but on the video you can see the movement between the cv and gearbox (diff) Quote
StuDoc 72 Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Just watched the vid thats just it moving until it hits the circlip that holds the cv joint in the diff. You wont get that when its in the car pressure between the box and the hub will hold that.yer ive got that which is normal but on the video you can see the movement between the cv and gearbox (diff)Apoligies didnt notice the vid lol. GT Phayer Posted July 26, 2012 Author Posted July 26, 2012 haha thats ok mate so that should be ok then ? Quote
GT Phayer Posted July 26, 2012 Author Posted July 26, 2012 cheers mate looks like it was just a weak shaft then Quote
Jhandy Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 it still shouldnt be that much movement, on the shaft, in and out the gearbox, there should be minimal movement, even when its out the car, Quote
Jhandy Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 could well be dude, take the shafts out, and see how much movement you get, stick your fingers in there and see if there is lift, and side to side Quote
GT Phayer Posted July 26, 2012 Author Posted July 26, 2012 doesnt seem like theres any movement in there Quote
