Malcolm GT
Car driving fine. Another 80 miles later and car would not go into 1st or 2nd. Just slides across and is in 3rd or 4th... Can get 5th also. No idea why was fine before.. Hear a bumping noise so don't know if something is loose?

Malcolm GT
Cheers shaun, would I get to them from in the car under the gear stick or under the car.. Novice here! Would they visibly be snapped as I could see them? Mates think it could be linkage?
_shaun_
remove the plastics trim from the shifter and ull have the shifter unit and ull see the 2 cables undo the 4 bolts holding it to the floor and theres 2 u-shaped metal clips holding the cables and some clips on the underside. i done this and pulled the metal cable and it just came out in my hand so was a bit of a give away it snapped but your cables should move fairly easy and u should gear be able to select gears if the cables are fine if so am clueless . but if they are snapped what i done was panic pmed to iddy saying AMGAWD I NEED CALBES! he kindly sent them the next day and i just cable tided the side of the cables that go on the gearbox side to the side of the old cables in the cabin had to undoa few bolts holding the cables in place am pretty sure then went to engine bay grabed the selector cables and pulled like crap till the came out might be an easyer way but worked for me then unbolted the old cables from the gearbox and attacted new cables. this was on a glanza tho so might be very slightly diffrent for urself. Malcolm GT
Did the above, cables fine. Turned out the connector in the engine bay has two bolts. These had come loose and not therefore working! Tightened them up and all fine!
