Hawwy
Hi allI just bought a forged engine tmd from a member on here marckglanzavAnd i took plugs out just to check condition and thread have oil on them and the pistons have usual carb build up on them but also what looks like oil as it shines wen i put a torch down there looks like oil. I hope i explained it good.Engines not fitted yet so i cant get a compression result or anythingHeres pics of plugs it looks like fresh brown oil on my finger when i touched the threads
shorty
Thought you where buying jays forged 5e?? May just be fuel and carbon build up on the plugs. fuel wil shine too. you wont know till you do a compression test now.
Hawwy
Yeah i was going to but couldnt afford an extra 600 quid for few months thats why i told him anyway mateAnd am on about the pistons mate Edited September 3, 2012 by Hawwy
StuDoc 72
Dont get ahead of yourself. Plugs cant tell you the whole story. Also if you have a timing belt on the engine and you have an engine stand then you can do a compression test. Just wire a battery straight onto the starter motor buddy. shorty
Also dont forget you are looking through a 20mm hole into the dark (even a tourch aint great) it maybe that u can see the brozing of tje piston coating through the carbon buildup. tmd built good engines tbh and unless its been abused and not looked after then its unlikley its shagged. Yes it happens but unlikley bud. you need to run it realy or take the head off wich is a tad extreeme from dirty plugs. dont panic till its proven to be bad from running it or a compression test ;)
Hawwy
Yeah i can see bronzing is that bad
