Lew91
I'd like to paint my bay before putting the engine and box back in. I've got a dry clean shed with compressor, spray gun etc etc but what would be the best way to do it?I've got small rust patches around the battery are and the paint is faded and just looks shit really. Any ideas on how to prep and what paint to use? Also I'll be removing as much as possible to clean and paint everything.
shorty
Wet paint works best imo, the dry old stuff with no lid on is just to much effort to run through a spray gun
Lew91
Haha funny fecker lol. I got some wet emulsion? Hmmm magnolia It's just going to let the whole car down, hate rust and manky old paint. The door shuts need doing to but that'll cost me a fortune.
shorty
Na man mask em off and mask off and paper all the surrounding panels and spray them too. As for prep other than sandind down and using some sort of cleaner i realy dont know mate. Im sure one of the body lads like adam or tyrone will anser though. All i know is its all in the prep i hear, so more effort in prep the better the end result.
Lew91
Yeah that's where I'm a bit stuck mate, like grits and grades. Where do you start? What grit do you flatten off with? I've sprayed stuff before but I want this to look good.
Jim*
You've got to remember mate the majority will be covere by the engine, take your time but it probably won't be seen
