Amjad
Okay so my Japspeed front section flange isn't threaded, but my SPS decat is. It takes 3x16mm (M10?) bolts Tried to fit my Cat back on for MOT and the bolts won't fit (I don't have, or remember what the stock setup was like). The first pic is the one where a 16mm bolt is too big to go through from cat side due to shape of the cat, and then if you do it from exhaust side, a nut still can't sit on the cat side (m10 17mm nut). The second pic is the one I've been told is fine pitch? 1.25? The 16mm bolt is fine size wise, but the thread is wrong The last pic with the sump in the pic is the one I have secured using a m10 bolt and nut I'm trying to look at the toyota diagrams but it only shows a stud going between the exhaust and cat, rather than a bolt and nut? And as you probably know the toyota parts guys are clueless also! I don't know whether it shows a stud as a generic picture, or whether it is actually a stud. The other thing I'm confused on, is that it says the number two in brackets, what's that about? I know that two holes aren't threaded (so I'm guessing a nut and bolt is needed) and one is threaded; but then it doesn't show what is needed for the third threaded hole? Any help greatly appreciated! If anyone know what size and what to buy generally let me know, as I'd rather a trip to B&Q than have to wait around for a day! Thanks Amjad Edited June 21, 2013 by Amjad
StuDoc 72
Just use smaller bolts so they dont get stuck on the threads. If its only for MOT then they will be fine for a few days. Jobs a good un. As for standard I'm sure the cat was studded from standard but you only need something to hold it temp for MOT.
Amjad
Oh ok thank you! Gonna take my spare cat with me to b&q to see if there's any bolts that fit it properly! By the way, I should be okay with a bolt/nut that has two washers bigger than the actual hole right?
StuDoc 72
Aye mate just get thin bolts so as not to damage any threaded bits you need when your decat is fitted. Then just use washers so they dont go through the holes. Basically just bodging it through the mot as long as its not leaking gases you will be fine mate.
turbo Grant
You do t need the cat on for mot. As its an import and before 96 there is no direct match in the emissions data base so the do a basic non car test. Just put your sps back on

Unfortunately some places think the UK N/A is the equivelent therefore emissions test them to this standard which without a CAT it will not meet. I have read up the guidlines and they are vague to say the least. If you fight your corner though you might have some luck.
