Having a nightmare trying to wire this stereo. (wiring geeks help needed please)

Recommended Posts

Posting this here because nobody ever reads the ice section.

Basically i'm a bit of an audiophile, and a geek for cassette tapes. I have this stereo, which features cassette and aux (a rare combo) which i've been trying to connect for weeks. The plan was to be able to play all 3 formats, cassette, cd and mp3 (by mounting a portable cd player on the dashboard) well just because my car is pink and it's a bit of banter.

Originally i had a toyota to iso adapter, to an iso harness which i wired to the stereo, god knows what connection it orginally is, this is some 1993 shit and i'm trying to get that original feeling. Managed to get everything except a working cassette/aux.

Then i tried wiring it to the the toyota to iso adaptor. Managed to get the cassette/aux working but no sound.

Got impatient and decided to cut into the original loom. Now i get nothing except a pop from the speaker, the other day I had managed to get the stereo to turn on.

Bit confused because wiring all matches to each colour, except orange, in which i had the option of blue/yellow, light blue or purple. Tried all 3 and no luck.

I blew the fuse whilst trying, but have replaced and still no luck. My only guess is that the problem lies within the pink wire (don't know it's purpose) and the fuse/filter box on the stereo.
