Tarzan
hi all, Decided to move away from the saxo's and 106's to something with a bit more power more of an impulse buy really when i was browsing gumtree when i spotted this wee motor. it has 225k kilometers on the clock which is fairly high but the car seems in good condition given its age and miles. i believe the wheels are 16" kosei senaka racing wheels which are in dyer need of a refurb. front bumper has a nasty crack along the bottom with a botched repair that will need attention. few pics from the add itself as you can see it has a wee mbc which has been pulled out, also a manky boost guage which is out as well.bought the car knowing there was a severe knock coming from the engine so the big ends are away. whipped the sump off when i got it home the find the rods had loads of play on the crank so new engine time. paint work was boging with a black film on it so got the tar remover out and the difference is shocking
Tarzan
so i got cracking with the engine removal. picked up a gt engine from the owner of tgtt who ive met before so it will be good having a guru close by. got the block cleaned up and it got a lick of paint to freshen it up then started swapping everything over from the knackered engine new crank and cam seals as i was imformed they were all weeping and it makes sense to change them when i have the chance freshly painted sump put on with some decent sump sealant when rotating the engine up right again i heard a rattle in the cat so whipped it off to find this lol i had to use the old rocker cover as the gt one is slightly different as breather hoses are placed elsewhere fired up nearly first try as the negative terminal for the battery has a bad connection which is now sorted. unfortunately my glanza inlet doesnt have the waterway as the gts do as you can see in one of the above pics (the wee square hole on the head) so im getting a hold of and inlet next week and then the car will be mechanically sorted. pulled the carpet out to find rusty footwells and the boot is very untidy so got it all prepped and painted. boot needs another coat of 040 and clear coated and the inside of the car will be sorted. once that is done the only thing left is refurbing the alloys, repairing the front and rear bumper, side skirts need attention and the door hinges need replaced. given what i paid for the car, ill have a very decent car for less money than buying one in a similar condition. thanks for reading so far. will keep the progress updated as i go cheers
