Manny01 Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 Won't start, was told with a boomslang harness/wiring loom would just plug in and run. Light is on ecu. Any help? Thanks! Quote
triple j Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 A harness will work as long as the greddy loom is attached to it, if its just the harness u get u will still have to attach/splice in the greddy loom in the correct order to it, best take the ECU out and label every wire u need then splice it back in checking wires twice before u do, also check jumper switches are in the correct order before u do. Manny01 Posted December 27, 2014 Author Posted December 27, 2014 I've got 2 looms, one is complete with connectors on each that is the boomslang one I presume. and one has connectors on one end and has been cut out the car and just wires at the other end, also got a map sensor and wiring for the greddy. But using a greddy ebc. Quote
triple j Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 The one that is cut should be the greddy one and that needs to be spliced in to the boomslang one, the map sensor is used for the greedy ECU to read boost basically it has nothing to do with controlling boost. Quote
triple j Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 I see now u have 2 greddy looms and one is harnessed in for an ep82, that should work if it wired right and jumper switches are in order. Quote
Manny01 Posted December 27, 2014 Author Posted December 27, 2014 Sorry for being ignorant but what are jumper switches? The settings on the ecu? Quote
triple j Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 There a few switches inside the ECU. What was that ecu last running in was it a starlet Quote
triple j Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 I should start right up then, check all the connections are good on the looms and plugs in tigh . Only other thing I could think of is plunging laptop in to ECU and reflaching it with new blank map. Quote

Manny01 Posted December 27, 2014 Author Posted December 27, 2014 Sorry. Just been informed you plug it in alongside the original standard ecu, hence the name piggyback! Duh! Sorry for being dopey. I've got a jam ecu so thought it would just plug in the same. I'll fish the original ecu out and try that. Thanks for all the help! Quote
akyakapotter Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 Lol emanage and jam interesting combo Quote
Manny01 Posted December 27, 2014 Author Posted December 27, 2014 Yeah, lol. Gonna get the original ecu now and try that. Quote
Manny01 Posted December 27, 2014 Author Posted December 27, 2014 It runs! Goes well but will get a remap booked. I'm in the south west, any suggestions. I know there's one in plymouth. Quote
