chad94 Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 fuel pump doesn't prime when ignition is switched on but runs fine when engine is running? is this normal as id imagine it should prime on ignition? if not any ideas on what could be the issue? relay? not enough voltage to the pump on ignition? unsure if it needs a live feed from the battery with an inline fuse and relay? akyakapotter Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 It's fine bud our system dosent prime with ignition on you can bridge a few pins in diagnostic port to check the pump is working. Quote
chad94 Posted January 3, 2015 Author Posted January 3, 2015 oh thats a relief, i know the pump works fine when the engines running i can hear it whizzing away but it just conceded me that it didn't prime. but if thats how they are then thats another item ticked off the long ass list of to do's lol thanks for the info mate, appreciate it Quote
Stu Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 The factory ecu triggers the pump when it senses the engine is cranking - no pre-prime with the factory ecu. Quote
Stu Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 No worries. Its done in part as a safety feature so that if you have a crash and piece a fuel line with the key is still on it doesn't pump fuel all over the place Quote
chad94 Posted January 9, 2015 Author Posted January 9, 2015 Supoose it seems a sensible thing to do, just so common to see most cars that prime on ignition this is why I got abit worried! Quote
Stu Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 Yeah lots of systems prime the pump (my car does this via the Link ecu), but just about all only run the pump when either the ecu sees triggering or (for vehicles that have them) the air flow meter registers air flow. Quote
