Gearbox Plug Sensor??

Have a Glanza EP91...

Just wanted to know what the electrical plug on top of the gearbox does? Some kind of speed sensor??

if i remember right its the reverse lights switch.

Okay good stuff, I saw one of the wire on the plug goes into the blue plug inside the car so I left it and didn't cut it out. As i'm stripping all the engine loom out the car and leaving the car harness in e.g starter motor, alternator, wiper motor.
