Thinking about designing external waste gate / relief valve for my glanza. Do you block off internal waste gate ? Also where abouts is best place to fit wastegate?

Yes you need to block off the original internal wastegate.

Best place for them is off the merge collector on the manifold, no sharp bends it should have a nice radius flow to it, otherwise it will cause all manor of boost control issues.

In terms of boost control could you not just plug a relief onto the same pipe as BOV? If your venting to atmosphere is it not the same thing

That's what race engines do is actually use BOV's to control boost pressure. That's beyond the scope of a road motor though tbh.

Oh okay I thought it was mabey to prevent overpressure of turbo as the engine must also create pressure on ignition and to expell the hot air rather than intercooled air.

You dont have to weld it.... you may want to use it again or on another project. Here is what I did.

Weld a nut on the back side of the flange and use a bolt and locking nut to hold the door closed.

Here is the external gate setup that I made for some inspiration.
