whats this and what does it do?

im changing my inlet manifold and while working out how to fit it i realised i needed a longer vacuum pressure sensor tube. I've got hold of some longer pipe but what is the little piece of plastic in the middle of the pipe? it looks like a small filter but i dont know if it has to be a certain way round or not? and what would happen if i was to put in another one to extend the tubing?

i cant find anything about it anywhere and before i start taking stuff appart i wanted to know if it needs to go a certain direction

ah okay, if i was to use another as a link to ad an extra section of hose on would it make a difference??

Why would you need another to add hose on

im fitting a Corolla manifold and the hose doesnt reach where it needs to, so need to make a little extension for it to fit all together

Just put longer hose either side of it then?

thats what im planning to do, but if i cant get a long enough piece il have to make it up out of bits
