onnaj1000
Hi, My crankshaft seal was leaking and therefore i replaced it a few weeks ago. Let the car ran for a minutes but no leaking was spotted. Today i wanted to change to oil and filter and then i noticed a huge leak from the crankshaft seal. I think i might have installed it too deep, so i'm wondering how deep it should sit? Or isn't it possible to push it in too deep? I thought it had a lip on the back preventing it from pushing it in too far. Hopefully someone know so i can change it again on saturday :-( Thanks Cheers Edited August 19, 2015 by onnaj1000
fiddlersport
probably you have pushed it in too deep or damaged while fitting it, very rare but have seen bent crankshaft before and this will cause the seal to go out of shape ! pictures say a thousand words ! StuDoc 72
As above could be multiple things. Could be damaged? Did you clean the surface with emery paper before fitting? Did you oil the seal before you fitted it?
