kevmcc90 Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 On start up seems to be black soot splutters out of exhaust, only noticed it when I came back from a drive and it was splattered up the back of the car? Any ideas? It doesn't sound good to me though.. Quote
funny onion Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Does it smoke? on boost? did you hit fuel cut at all? I wouldn't panic, chances are it's just unsettled some shite in the exhaust or as above, overfueling My advance is mapped pretty rich on boost and i get a nice little sooty patch on my rear bumper if i've been kicking it about. kevmcc90 Posted September 7, 2015 Author Posted September 7, 2015 Cold, doesn't smoke on boost. Could be over fuelling. Car is running jam Ecu on ct9. Would I be best fitting adjustable fpr and getting fueling checked by a tuner? Quote
funny onion Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Get a wideband afr fitted if you can to check afr's especially on boost. the plug and play ecu's do up the fueling by quite a bit. Or as you say get a rrfpr and get it set up on a rolling road if you can afford. That's your best option i'd say. better to be safe than sorry. Quote

Ollieh17 Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Condensation in the exhaust picks up soot and leaves a mark. Next door neighbour had a white car and i had a side exit had to park the other way. Its pretty normal when cold Quote
Broony Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Yeah if you have an aftermarket exhaust my nurspec used to leave the pavement black on start up on cold mornings due to condesation Quote
kevmcc90 Posted September 7, 2015 Author Posted September 7, 2015 That settles my mind down a bit, but maybe best still to get my fueling checked out Quote
mi16chris Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 It's normal on cold start if u have a decat Quote
Stu Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Cold start/warm up enrichment does increase the AFR while the engine is warming up, and condensation is normal especially if its cold. I wouldn't worry about it unless you have bad running/idle issues. Quote
