Dansstarlet1996
Anyone??
morgey
Warning allows you to set a warning. (Shift light)Peak does that and allows you to recall the highest point the needle reached. Say if you went into 1st instead of 3rd your revs could go up to 9000rpm, you could hit the button and see how far it reached. It seems it also has a buzzer or something if need be.Touch allows you to change the dial colour and also has the warning and peak feature.
Dansstarlet1996
so which would you say is most suitable for an NA that doesnt need to be all fancy, its not going on track or anything, just want one to put in. sorry if im a little slow, im struggling to wrap my head round it
morgey
The warning one will be fine for what you need. The other option is fit some gls or sr dials which have a rev counter stock, just need a couple of wires moving.
Dansstarlet1996
wanted to have a pod one just as personally like the look of it would a warning one wire up like the tutorial on the forum? just need it to tell me the revs and be accurate tbh
morgey
Havent seen the tutorial tbf mate. But they are usually pretty generic wiring wise. The warning side of things will be built in so nothing extra there will need doing.
Dansstarlet1996
tutorial basically says use the live out the back of the radio, plug a spade connector into the little plug next to the diag box, then earth it else where. if the wires fairly generic and simple il have a go, worst comes to the worst il get some help to do it
Dansstarlet1996
this is the tutorial.. http://www.ukstarletowners.com/topic/47420-rev-gauge/looks simple enough to have a go at
morgey
I wouldnt do it like that personally. Theres a rev signal wire at the back of the clocks saves you running wires across the car like that.
Dansstarlet1996
Ah okay, so instead of the spade connector there's one behind the dash?
morgey
Yeah will be on one of the 3 plugs on the speedo cluster, will just need to splice into that, power can be had from the cig or radio supply and earth it down inbthe kick panel.
Dansstarlet1996
Sweet, Il have a go then it doesn't sound to bad, Il go with the warning one and see what happens cheers for the help morgey!
