difference between Wiseco and Wossner pistons
EPnick22 replied to EPnick22's topic in 4E-FTE Engine Discussions
i see, well i just need a set of pistons to fit my stock rods as theyre still in good condition and i dont have the funds for a fully forged engine, only the bits i need to rebuild it (head gasket, head bolts, shells, etc etc) Im only going to be running the stock turbo so im going to be stressing the engine out too much -
so yeah, as above, not sure what the difference is regarding the G/pin size, i know what kind of pin the Wossner's use, but why would the small end be a different size to the Wiseco's? (just what Ive been told) can they only be used with certain rods?
-
hell yeah ;) staying with the stock turbo though for a while til i can get a van for work, then maybe bigger turbo for weekend car
-
in the process of it now dude! had my head skimmed last week, just waiting on some bits and a little bit of machine work and ill be good to rebuild it

-
hahaa i just recounted them and im definitely not mistaken, there are 6 long and 4 short haha!
-
just noticed 6 of my head bolts are longer than the other 4 lol....been told the longer ones are used on the exhaust valve side, but theres 5 bolts on each side so where does the other one go lol?

was considering getting a decat screamer, never heard one in person but they sound pretty good, but also heard they blow on idle, what issues would this make?
-
haha funny you said that i literally just did before you sent that
-
thanks man I'll drop him a message

As above, been told the OEM rings wont fit, will hopefully be buying some 2nd hand Wisecos so will need rings, Ive contacted Wiseco but now its a waiting game...
-
any one know what rings i would need to buy for wiseco pistons? Just been told the OEM rings dont fit, I might be buying 2nd hand Wiseco pistons so will need new rings, anyone?
-
Ive emailed them, the fact that I have to get involved with the whole overseas shipping thing is a bit annoying, cant find any direct links to any rings anywhere

i see, well looking at how much the rings will cost for those specific pistons + the time it'll take for them to arrive, it wouldn't be much more expensive to buy all new bits, so think I'm going to do that
-
thats fair enough, well the car was used for a sprint series so was thinking there would be a fair bit more wear, where on the rod should i look for wear?
-
thats fine i was already aware of that but i was talking about the wear of the piston and rod itself, what do ya reckon?
-
sounds good guys! i may be buying some 2nd hand wiseco pistons and scat rods, 6 months old apparently, think its worth it? havnt negotiated a price yet but what's the wear like on these?
-
still open to offers from people?
-
well im not going to be running extreme power (not yet ;) ) so im sure theyll be alright, im looking forward to it
-
is there a how to or anything someone could put up please?
-
did you have to notch your block for any of these builds with these rods?
-
do i need to have my block notched for any forged rods then?
