  1. hey guys i am taking a delivery of a starlet this weekend of my mate but he asked to keep the wheels so i been looking around. i got offered a set of 13" ET20 steels will these fit? the car is lowered slightly and i also seen that ET25 is the limit really but i was thinking since there small steels would there be a issue? the car is a starlet 94 GT turbo so not sure if 13" will clear front brakes thanks guys
  2. Hey guys All the engines i keep finding are miles away Anyone got a block thats local (North west) Ideally want a cheap 1.3 turbo engine that needs a mayor service Or will consider a block with all work done with proofs. Not after a forged block to expensive for my budget Will consider a n/a block if i have to at the right price Thanks!
  3. Yeah i would change to the 10/40 see how it goes. Could be stem seals or turbo causing the smoke if compression fine To confirm rings ok you could do a leak down test sure a garage locally can do one at ok cost. Yeah i am still learning also on these engines but the basics are the same across all engines. I have read theres a valve on rocker part of breather system that could fail you might of cleared that out with a long hard drive. Turbo engines do need a beating every now and then
  4. If compression good then i would be thinking maybe some oil went though system when cold. What oil do you use?? Try a service and keep a eye on it Try 5w40 or 10w40 Would defo use 5w40 for these warmer months Would check your breathers also i dont have much exp with these engines but i know a bit on turbo engines
  5. Well i am from the north west theres a few places round here names are hard to spell damn welsh! My kona stab was amazing couldnt fault it one bit Landelga good theres some good trails around cannock if i remember rightly Plus theres antiog sinigog that prob not spelt right but that one looks amazing get driven up the mountain all day for 25 quid
  6. Kona are a very good downhill bike Where abouts in the country are you?
  7. Forget that wrong one for me :'( I shouldnt rush read
  8. I know someone would say that Its not money its more time! I have got plenty but its not me doing the work its a good mechanic mate he said he more than happy to do the work ect i seen how much full rebuilds have cost by googling it and they not cheap Could someone please make me a list of std items i should need and could change while i am doing it all. I am a firm believe genuine parts are best so wheres best and cheapest place to get genuine parts i used to get all my vauxhall parts cheap from a trader who used the forum is there anyone on here like that? Thanks for everyo
  9. Thats a great suggestion cheers! So then all i would need is new bearings the crank from doner engine and away i go yeah?
  10. Yeah but rings and honing make the whole repair expensive. Not to sound like a penny pincher i do want to do it right and all that but to do it that way would take me much longer to do because i dont have lots of free money I know your say well it could go and cost you more in the long run but if i have no reason to suspect piston damage and not gonna be pushing for 200bhp then just repairing the bottom end is the most cost effective yeah? Dont get me wrong i will look into the prices of all that but i can prob guess theres another 350 into parts
  11. Yeah that was the plan. Was thinking doing a compression test before the strip down to see if there was any piston damage. Though i am concerned about doing one with bearings gone.
  12. Hey guys i am really new around here! So for my first post i am diving right in with my problem. I have just bought a starlet GT 94 from my mate for my first project. Now he has spun a main big end bearing (we think) its knocking quite bad now It will be opened up in a few weeks to access the damage. What i need to know is to rebuild the bottom do i need to split it from the head? I see no reason to spend 150-200 quid splitting the block if theres no need. My plan was to get all the bearings Polish the crank if theres no markings New oil pump New water pump New belts
