  1. hi all,

i got a jperformance fmic kit and wanted to install last weekend but ran in some problems.

as the titel says i run an auto glanza '97.

    the problems i had were:

-from turbo to intercooler... first bend touches the hose from the steering pump.

-from intercooler to gear linkage. the pipe rubs against the arm that will be moved by the gear stick

-last bit of pipe: the dipstick of the autobox is directly in the way.

how did you auto guys manage to get this fmic fitted.

(i am a 1st mechanic so if their was a easy fix i would have done it.)

heres a pic of the set i have. same tubing and all

    grtz,

    wouter

  2. hey guys,

got a question regards the tuned ecu's.

i run a glanza v auto ( yes i know it's an auto) but will these ecu work as good as on a MT glanza or does the auto give troubles..

i expect that it could work bc the auto has an own ecu. but before spending silly money on something that doesnt work is mad.

    thnxs in advance.

  3. whell what the knock sensor does is allowing the ignition timeing to advance till the engine starts "kocking" then it will retard and try again to the max. if you retard the ignition, and you are running a "different"map than stock it could not burn all the fuel in the correct time and overfuel.

the comment about lambda sensors is not true.

lambda sensors work on closed loop only. open and closed loop depends on certain factors, like: trotlhe pos and map sensor. if you drive a constant rpm being 2k rpm or 5k rpm. running constant is putting the engine in closed loop. using the lambda sensor to controle the amount of O2 in the exhaust.

what i would do is always the cheap way. clean the spark plugs make a pic of them clean. pull out the lambda sensor, also clean it ( be carefull not to use agressive materials).

reset all fault codes. drive for 1 or maybe 2k km and check again.

spark plugs wet again or oil do a compression test.

    hope it helps/

  4. hiya, im no glanza expert in any case, but i am technician working at VW/audi.

to break it down step by step.

engine fueling is done by the ecu what needs to following sensors to do a correct engine cycle.

    -cranck pos sensor

    -engine rpm

    -air amount/ air temp

    -cooling temp

    -trothle pos

    -lambda sensor

    -knock sensor

if any of those sensor gives a faulty ready the ecu will adapt to that false reading.

after diagnostics you tell us that you have 2 faults: Map sensor and coolant temp.

the coolant temp sensor gives a signal to the ecu that your engine is warm or not. this means it will use more fuel when cold readings and "less" at warm readings.

try to find the sonsor qualifications of how much resistance at what temp it should give. so you can test it outside of the car. if it keeps telling the ecu that he is cold he will use more fuel. would it be enough to cause a malfunction as this.... duno cant tell....

the second is the map sensor.

this measures the amount of pressure in the manifold, what is needed for a correct amount of fuel.

this sensor can also be measure by a handpomp. most of those sensors have a liniar volt measurement. ( like: 0.1bar=1volt 0.2bar=2volt)

check if those sensors are functialy properly and check the ecu if it gives any codes.

after that happy hunting on the rest of the sensors.

    hope it helps,

    grtz,

Wouter (p.s. im not english so dont mind the typo's)
