  1. Thanks for that, it's already on my watch list but it's actually in transport primer rather than paint so it will still need rubbing down and painting. I'll see what the local scrappys have in stock tomorrow and go from there.
  2. I'm in Ipswich, Suffolk. The good news is that my insurance company have agreed that it shouldn't be written off after seeing the photos and that as I've agreed to repair it myself they will send me a cheque for £400 (less my £150 excess) to fix it tomorrow so now I need to find a replacement black bonnet, bumper bar, headlight and indicator. If anyone knows of a good black bonnet then please holla!.
  3. I might be on the hunt for a replacement standard bonnet shortly in the black met. for my SR if anyone has anything. Ideally in good condition. Thanks.
  4. My wife was behind a Audi S5 leaving a car park last night and the Audi driver decided to reverse straight into it, apparently there was a broken down car being pushed into the car park exit which my wife couldn't see due to a brick wall, the Audi driver panicked when he saw it and just went back without looking. It's got to go though the insurance as the Audi was on a company policy and its his company and he'll need to claim for a new rear bumper anyway which means the Starlet could be written off, it only needs a new bonnet, bumper, headlight and indicator which is sod all but if it goe
  5. No worries bud and thanks for the offer, I did polish it again before i stuck them on as i didn't want any grease on it but they have started lifting on the edges, These things happen, I still think they look great and have totally transformed the car in my view. I'll give them a few months and see how they last.
  6. I shouldn't worry about the stickers too much, the are slightly the wrong size around the moulding but can be cut to shape with a stanley blade, I'm a bit more worried about how long they will last stuck for, only time will tell on that one. I've now fixed the front bumper too, it has come out better than i expected it too. After running a DA over the corners I plastic primed them. Then after flattening them and keying them up I whacked the paint on. They still need a polish but they look much better i think you'll agree, 1998 Toyota Starlet 1.
  7. The bumper is currently primered ready to flat and prep for painting in the morning.
  8. The postman arrived this morning bearing numerous gifts... Namely the CD player of ebay, new wheel nuts and the SR sticker set, along with the paint and the fuel flap clip that I'd already got I cracked on this morning getting the car sorted. The clip was a easy fix and now the flap opens with the lever as it should, As you said Billy, the CD player again was very easy to fit especially as it was plug and play too and has made the world of difference to the choonage, it picks up more stations, sounds much better and it's easier to use, £30 well spent. The wheel nuts also went
  9. So yesterday i decided to get the knackered tyre changed, what a mare that turned out to be, the last person who put the wheels on done them up so tight (no doubt with a air gun) that the garage couldn't undo them, and then they did the locking wheel nut snapped all it's lugs off, FFS. It took over 45 mins to get them all out, hammering off the outer casing with a screwdriver, hammering a smaller socket over it and having to hammer the old nut out of the socket, thankfully the garage didn't charge me anymore!. Eventually it was all sorted, thankfully there was a pair of old nu
  10. That's exactly what's wrong with it! The only trouble is that when I bent the tab back it snapped off... I'm hoping the main dealer sells just a replacement tab rather than having to buy a complete new flap.
  11. Yes, that's the one. I gave £650 for it which i don't think is too bad. I made more progress on this today, First thing this morning i pressure washed all the polish spits of the plastic and bodywork, it gets everywhere then after that i spent a few hours with the Autoglym super resin polish it's transformed it now, it's amazing what a difference a good hand polish makes to it, I should have waxed it too but by this point i couldn't be arsed. I also spent some time cleaning the inside so now it looks fantastic. I was also planning on swapping the dodgy tyre with the spare but they
  12. Thanks for the kind words guys. I'm getting a little old for mods these days, the most modified car I have is my Mk3 Cortina and that's only because it has Gaz shocks! I just plan on getting it nice and enjoying it really.
  13. No, sadly i think it's some JVC thing with the world's most fiddlest volume control that can't decide if it's going up or down when you turn it.
  14. I thought I'd start a new thread for my latest purchase on here, for a while now my wife has been asking for a little car for work and having been made to drive over the last 2 years first a 1985 Suzuki Alto, then a 1984 Triumph Acclaim and more recently a 1991 Mercedes 190E I decided i'd better keep her sweet and buy something a bit more respectable!. After missing out on a Yaris SR locally on ebay by £30 i saw this about a hour away also on ebay and decided that as she like K11 Micras (She had one YEARS ago and still goes on about it) and that this looks a bit like one but nicer it was w
  15. Thanks! I'll send him a message now.
  16. Hello, My names Mike and I've just bought a 1998 Starlet SR, I'm new to these little cars so hopefully this forum with be of help when i run into problems!. I've bought it as a runabout for my wife mainly because my Merc 190E is a bit big for her works car park and she's been pestering me for ages to buy her a smaller car!. I've collecting this on Saturday so I'm pretty excited, the plans manly is to clean the hell out of it, repaint the scuffed front bumper, service it, and few other odd jobs as i come across them, I won't be modifying it though as i like cars being standard so sorry
