  1. Thanks mate, took ages to rub down, really just want to get it on now Ive heard its pretty easy for a DIY mechanic. Yeh Ive had a read up and it seems the flywheel makes a good difference but it is a lot of money as I'll have to get a garage to do it. Ah mate not good, why might you have to sell up?
  2. So after a good rub down with a wire brush and respray this morning this is the end result, 100 times better I can't wait to get it on, ordered some new gaskets from Toyota as well. The magnecors have also turned up. I'm still in two minds about the lightened flywheel as with labour I'm guessing it'll be around £400-£500. But here's a pic of the mani now Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. So there it is lads, turned up today, needs a good clean, really good rub down and respray which I'll be doing next week. So it'll be brakes next on the list! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. £220 a month! I take it that's with all mods declared as well? How much difference did the the flywheel and obx make? Like a couple of car lengths when racing another NA? And is it the same lightweight flywheel that's for the 4e-fte? And thanks mate yours if lovely! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. Yeh that's the thing if it was a straight fit I'd probably just go for it for the sheer hell of it but seeing as they need modifying I might just leave the exhaust alone. I definitely won't be decatting it. She'll be getting the advanced timing mod as its apparently so cheap but just trying to find somewhere to do it. Oh I also forgot I'm also reading up on Corolla injectors. Don't you're making me think about an MPS again lol, just did a check and insurance is just £37 a month for me at 25. I'm paying £30 for the SR.
  6. Wow that is quite a list of peculiar cars! I came close to buying a Mazda 3 MPS but the tax is eye watering. Ah maybe I won't bother as I'm not going for big power, I've got my eye on the obx manifold for the 5e from the states, either that or the Corolla e10 exhaust mani. Just want to make it a tad nippier.
  7. Hopefully it doesn't take you as long as it took me lol, 6 months! And thanks mate, she's getting a few tweaks underneath but looks wise she's staying bone stock. My work is only 3 miles away, but its driving to and from the girlfriends that builds up the miles. Out of all the cars I've had only 3 have really had power, punto GT, Celica St202.. Fairly quick, found it a bit under powered and looked quicker than it was, Ep3 type R... so much fun, fantastic engine and box, shit hot to 100mph for an NA 2.0 (16.4 secs) but sadly many are owned by nobs and they are too common. Regularly drove
  8. Yeh I think they look so much better than the standard mani as wel. Mine is coming with a bracket already on it, I'm hoping that's the right one. I'm debating whether just to get a small engined petrol, as I only do around 4-5000 miles a year. Ideally though seeing how money goes Id like a powerful car again but with the starlet on the side. Pads are getting low, so next month she'll be getting some new pads, discs and braided lines, hopefully it makes a nice difference! What discs have you got on yours mate?
  9. So a small update, all the service stuff is here apart from the magnecors which I'm still waiting for from id-workz, now I'm just trying to find time to even clean it let alone service it! With it raining on most of my days off at the moment. I have finally found and bought a corolla inlet mani! Popped up on eBay, its going to need a rub down and respray but I'm just happy to finally have one. Its only taken me nearly 6 months. Annoyingly though the starlet has now become my daily, with my 306 having too many problems I decided to break it. Ive had to drive the SR to Brighton, Bournem
  10. Really? How much roughly do you think its going to cost you to turbo it? Will you be fitting the bits yourself? I did think about an engine swap, but seeing as my 1.3 is so low on miles and well looked after i decided not to bother. Nippy around town but I find it pretty bad on the motorway and like you said up any hills. I did manage to out accelerate some lad in a limited edition corsa the other night though lol.
  11. This looks so good mate, I know what you mean about power it's starting to bug me as well, not going to sell mine but Im seriously missing power, have you thought about an engine swap?
  12. I'm tempted, just not sure if it'll look right with the clear indicators! Another thing Im looking into is the advanced timing mod, have you had this done to yours mate?
  13. That's not too bad, the rest of the bodywork is mint it's just the bumpers, I'm also going to get the wing mirrors sprayed as well, just trying to find a reputable place around the Portsmouth area. This condensation has just started over the last couple of days and got progressively worse, bugging the hell out of me! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. How much did it cost you to have your bumpers resprayed? Oh my god I get that all the time about the stickers! 'why have you put those horrible chavy stickers on there'.. 'do you think you're in the fast and the furious with those stickers'... It drives me mad haha, especially as I'm the only car guy in my family. This car gets more attention than my EP3, Celica or any of my other cars ever did, I also get the thumbs up/nods from other drivers, and at the three car meets/events Ive taken this too Ive had so many people come up and ask me about/compliment it. I agree the 90s were by far
  15. The mother saw it on Facebook, she used to work with the old woman who retired years ago, I thought the price and mileage were typos haha! Luckily there was actually nothing mechanically that needed doing, not a single thing on an 18 year old motor! Im dying to get the bumpers touched up though as there are a couple of scuffs and chips. I get laughed at all the time in this car, everyone at work just thinks its an old banger and many people think I must be broke to be driving such an old car, I love it though they are cracking cars and its different from all the usual financed crap my fri
  16. How long do you plan on keeping yours? Am I right in thinking there's only around 260 SRs left on the road? To be honest I think we both got very lucky with ours, finding an SR that hasn't been glanza repped or modded into oblivion AND with low mileage and good history is very difficult. I wasnt even looking for one at the time it just sort of popped up, it was my mum who saw it advertised.
  17. I just tried to find it so I assume it's gone and at that price I'm not surprised! I saw that white one as well, I agree it does look too far gone. I'm very interested to see what a difference the mani makes, for what the starlet is its certainly no slouch and very nippy around town. Yeh it'll be interesting to see how much the value of these goes up over the next few years, I don't know if you saw the black one on eBay recently with no MOT and 131000 on the clock going for £1600! In my opinion well over priced. But there is a lovely white one on there right now for £1500.
  18. Oh right I thought the plastic looked black haha, if you've still got them when I get paid I'll have them mate, as I'll probably be waiting forever to find 98 spec door cards lol. Yeh the manis seem to be like hens teeth at the moment, one breaker got back to me but he wanted far too much for it. Cheers for keeping an eye out though! Duno if you've noticed there seems to be some very cheap SRs popping up on gumtree at the moment dying to be saved, there was a silver one with a knackered alternator at fairly low mileage for just £375!
  19. Ah they're black I've never seen them in that colour before, how much do you want for them? Yeh I'm guna do the brakes when I get paid as well, probably go for braided lines also. I'm still on the hunt for that elusive Corolla mani lol. Also going to do away with my 306 at the end of the month and more than likely get a mk3 fiesta, fancy another retro project to go along with the starlet.
  20. Thanks mate, she scrubs up well! Yes mate I'm very interested! Any pictures? And just a load of service bits, fuel filter, oil filter, plugs, leads, belts. Got the coolant, panel filter, oil and gearbox oil from fensport and opie oils. I was tempted by the reflet rear lights but I decided I want to keep it looking as retro as possible.
  21. Much to my girlfriends despair I'm waiting for a delivery to turn up from id-workz so not really any updates until that lot shows up, so thought I'd upload some more pictures Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. I used to own a Celica St202 and that cost me enough money in parts let alone a GT4! I'm not at the stage where I have to hide the cost of mods from the missus yet haha but she HATES the starlet and doesn't understand why I spend money on it, always saying I should get a nice new car on finance haha. A small update, I changed the cluster, heater controls and cigarette lighter bulbs to blue, I know it won't be to everyone's taste but I like it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. So managed to pick up a Gen 7 Celica steering wheel and Gen 6 Celica airbag from a local breakers for just £30, well worth it, looks a lot better in person. Photos aren't edited the sun had gone in on the after pic. Before and after: Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  24. Messaged some of the breakers on eBay, most of them already sold and some didn't get back to me, but it is my life's mission to find this manifold lol! But I did manage to pick up a steering wheel from a breakers just outside of Portsmouth. I don't know what makes me so much more careful over this car than my others, but I've never enjoyed modding a car so much, everything is so cheap! I took me forever to buy mods for my type R as everything cost a fortune, but I can mod the starlet and save for a mortgage at the same time.
  25. Ah right! Thanks mate! Does that include the three spoke steering wheel from the Gen 7 (1999-2006) Celica as well? Or just the gen 6 st202?
