  1. Hey peeps,

so my new year started with somone crashing into the front of my car and wrecking my front bumper and wing. I'm going to a body shop next week but I've got a facelift bumper I've been meaning to get prepped and fitted so now seems as good a time as any to sort it out. Now I know I need diffrent brackets to fit it to a pre-facelift glanza but what about the fogs? Can I use my old Fogs or will I need to find the proper facelift ones?

    cheers!

  2. That's enough recommendations for me! I'll defo be picking one of these kits up. I've got one really stupid question left, when I changed my pads before a friend go me a set from his work. This time I'm getting a set of Yellow stuff pads from ID Workz but I don't know how many boxes I need to buy. do they come in sets of just 2 or 4? the last ones I had came in a set of 4 but I don't wanna buy 2 boxes of these and have extra pads that I don't need!

    thanks guys!

    Hi,

I've just finished replacing the front and rear discs, pads and rebuilt the calipers on my glanza.

    It's very simple.

Simply undo 2 caliper bolts remove the caliper / suspend it with a cable tie from the shocks / spring, then there are 2 more bolts holding the pad carrier to the hub. remove those.

Take the pad carrier away and swap out the old pads with new pads with the clips in the same way.

Then you'll have to rewind the caliper piston. I bought a rewind kit so I have it for the future but you could use say pliers in the grooves. Wind the piston all the way back.

Bolt the pad carrier back on to the hub / brake disc with the 2 bolts that you undid.

Bolt the caliper back on, 2 bolts and that's it!

Mate you're a star! So you change the front and back exactly the same:thumbsup: nice one buddy

  4. Hey guy's

Hope you all had a good Christmas!

Sorry if this is already been posted but my work computer has classed the words "brake pads" as pornography so I can't search for it.... makes sense

Anyway I'm changing the brake pads on my Glanza tomorrow and I was wondering is there any difference when changing them?  I've changed the fronts before and that's simple enough, I assume the rear is much the same but just wondering if there's any difference before I get stuck in.

    cheers peeps

  5. My understanding is There should be be a shoulder on the shaft of the shock that should sit against the bottom washer on the top mount. Yours has punched through the washers and now isnt doing its job, Hence the nut isnt clamping the washers and top mount together

So is this down to something I've done? Have I over tightens something and most important can this be fixed or would I need a new set of struts? The first time i didn't tighten anything to much I put it back the same as the old ones. Thanks for your help mate

  6. Youve way too much thread sticking out the top of that shock from what I've seen. Have a look here might have a similar issue to whats said near the bottomhttp://austarletclub.com/index.php?/topic/17287-rear-shockie-top-m

Awesome thanks mate. As this is the second time I've fitted these this weekend the first time I had the top bolts much looser but still had the same problem so tightened them thinking that might be the issue but I'll slacken them off. Maybe I have a different issue altogether if there's a knocking either way? Only thing I can think is that I've done something wrong along the way? Cheers mate

  7. You drilled the mounts out ??? Looks correct to me mate washer on top then but is it strut or diy coil if coil show picture you might build up wrong

Nah man I didn't drill anything out. Just undid the bolts. Can't speak for the guy who had it before me mind. They're struts mate. That washer on top moves freely even when the top nuts are done up as mich at they'll go. They weren't moving before I changed them so I dunno if I've done something wrong

  8. Hi guys

I've changed my rear shocks on my glanza v and there was a really bad knocking somive taken them off and I'm wondering which way around do I fit this part? I've added pictures which one is correct? Would it being the wrong way around cause a knocking? Thanks guys

  9. I give you my word if i ever sell it as genuine and get genuine money ill fire you over a few quid

Really appreciate that mate but it's all good! It was no use to me and I'm just glad to see it going to good use on a tidy Glanza! However if you manage to come across a facelift bumper in good condition give me a shout lol

  10. There is hundreds of shades of white 040 super white 2 is our shade people think our shade is laquered but it's not. You will never get an exact match because bumper plastic is a different texture to metal as they absorb different. The silver will have to be taken off all reprimed again. They body or paint shop will have a colour swatch wait for a sunny day after a polish to go see what they can do. Also white paint should be a stirred mix and not shaken. It's a delicate process!

Nice one dude! I thought it would be tricky. Yeah I figured it would have to be all stripped down and what have you. I assume when you say white paint needs to be stirred your talking about the car paint and not the emulsion lol thanks again mate

  11. Hi folks

So I've picked up a facelift bumper for my Glanza (finally!) but it's in silver and my car is white so I'll have to get it re-sprayed. Now the problem I have know for a fact my car has had a re-spray at some point and looking at the colour under the bonnet they have used a slightly different shade of white ( I had no idea such a thing existed) Now I've spoke to the guy I got the car off and he said there was no receipt for it and that it was sprayed in japan before he imported it. So I'm wondering is there a way that a body shop could match the colour? or would it simply be either a case of trying their best to match the colour by eye? or re-spray the whole car? either that or I take my old bumper down B&Q and use the colour matcher and get a big tin of emulsion :p

    Cheers peeps
