This is my 1996 Glanza V - I bought originally bough it intending for it to be my daily hack with no real intent on doing much to it as I wanted something cheap, relatively economical. Admittedly.. I took it for a wee test drive and felt like it was lot of fun and bought it on the spot.. if I had spent a little more time looking over the car, I would have probably passed on it as it has needed a bit of work and money invested in it to get it to where it is now. This is what it looked like when I bought it: Exterior wise.. the photos make it look 100x nicer.. but it's quite rough, but that's alright for me as I don't want to worry about where it gets parked. After buying the car and spending a few hours I found the following issues: - No coolant, the water was brown as poo (the previous owner topped it up as it was green when I looked - seriously who does that??) - The heater didn't work at all - The radio was dead and wiring was a mess - There was a leak in the boot - Central locking didn't work - Wiper blades were so crap they did nothing - Air filter appeared to have not been replaced in a very very long time - Interior smelled of wet dog (still does sadly) - The dash has been out at some point as only two bolts were holding it in - Idles at 1500rpm whether hot or cold - Found a major oil leak near the air conpump -- The oil leak was because some clever person didn't do the oil filter on tight and was loose. - An oil leak near the oil pump (not too bad) - The passengers wing mirror looks to be off another model starlet - The drivers side wing mirror has been poorly painted black - The wing mirror controls didn't work - The interior lamp didn't work - The rear view mirror rattles like no tomorrow - Thrust bearing is shagged and sounds like a big end bearing has gone when idling BUT, the engine and turbo felt great! There were no issues revving or boost at all (hurry) What's been done to date: - Oil + oil filter - brand new heater core ( $500 NZD later, ouch!) - radiator flushed and pressure tested - new air filter - dash mounted better (not properly but 90%) - radio wiring fixed + new sony radio - Fusion under seat sub installed - new wiper blades - Painted the wiper arms - new gearbox oil - Fixed the boot leak -- sadly this has been in a decent prang and the drivers tail light doesn't sit well at all with the chassis and you can see the questionable repair job - New dissy rotor + cap - new thermostat - Interior carpet removed and water blasted, but it needs doing again. - Replaced wing mirrors for colour matched ones - Fixed the interior dome light - Fixed the high idle - Replaced the rims with somewhat nicer ones with new tyres - Had the front calipers rebuilt - New front pads - New front rotors - Replaced the rear view mirror (didn't fix the rattle) - Replace one of the intercooler hoses - Fixed the positive and negative terminals that had loose connections, causing the car to cut out - Replace the heater fan - Swapped the drivers side side skirt cap with one that didn't have a dent in it - I hand washed the panels (Feat. my impreza) Before After Off the top of my head, the to-do/wish list is: - New struts (probably Koni yellows) - New springs (probably RS-R lowering springs) - Cambelt, idlers and tensioner replacement - New waterpump - New Oil pump - Replace the clutch - Get fog lights - Fix the front bumper - Get new indicators - Look at a custom front mount set up - Install a Gizzmo boost controller - Get a boost gauge - Replace the rear muffler with a TRD one I have - Replace the downpipe with a decatted one - new 02 sensor This is how she looks now: Full: http://i.imgur.com/yZ2Mzom.jpg And bonus photo of my Impreza that I drive on the weekends
