  1. Bought a td04 manifold turbo and downpipe from ebay, Wuhan special, just wondering if I were to get an intercooler setup for the 4EFTE if the piping would fit my conversion? Asked the sellers but their english isn't very good dont think they understood me lol

  2. Not updated in a while but I've got myself another starlet, I still have this one but I found one for sale 3 door same colour 70k miles for £450, still has mot till october and no rust, does have a bit of an issue with changing gears but at this price I won't moan, just for college and deliveries + winter, changed the gearbox oil to see if it would help but nah, so gonna assess it down the line. It's filthy and rough looking but gets the job done. Drove to Belgium for 2 weeks too and took the starlet drove faultless, Got a backbox installed on it but I'll likely be changing it again in a few months.

Need to MOT it by the end of September as well, I managed to sell my cupra so I'm now looking at buying parts to turbo it or even just buy a 4EFTE if its better off? Still need to make my mind up 🤣

Bought myself a passenger side tail light in Belgium as well as the reverse lights is on the opposite side in EU so I can get myself a glanza tailgate with the reverse lights on it, guy I bought it from had several starlets including a KP60, looking for a front left wing if anyone has one for sale on here so I can tell him, spoke about starlets for about 2 hours 🤣

PS: Looking to buy parts to turbo so if you have anything let me know so I can avoid the Ebay specials 🤣

  3. So another update on the Starlet, got her undersealed last week, dropped her off and got her 6 days later all clean and ready. Underside got steam cleaned, needle descaled, rust converter applied and left overnight, then Dinitrol applied and cavity waxed. All the good stuff so hopefully helps it stay on the road forever, get a yearly checkup for free with Preserve & Protect in Johnstone, they seem well known in Scotland as many people I spoke to have used them or known customers who did and seemed impressed with the jobs. Also gave her an oil change but couldn't get the filter off was too tight and my chain was absolute junk that I bought so it'll be for the next one that I get it off. Might do sparkplugs soon if I can be bothered. Next step will be to see if I can either get a backbox made for a decent price or see if my mate wants to try make me one but he's busy with his K swap atm causing him havoc with timing. Got a clicking noise again when turning right at slow speed so gonna check my cv boot on the other side see if that one's bad too as replaced the passenger side 2 months ago. Got my cupra MOT'd too new control arms and tyres but won't interest anyone on here lol, has an oil leak round the back of the engine too but I'm just gonna sell that end of summer and use the money to buy a cheap daily for the winters like a Yaris T sport or something and turbo this. Other than that can't think of anything else that's really worthy of an update on here about the Starlet so just gonna dump pics now, enjoy No description available.

Was that a straight bolt on? Videos and other posts I seen you had to mess around with the throttle cable and putting in washers for it all to fit etc but it looks the same as standard in this pic

  5. Another update on the Starlet, since putting the wheels on I've got my crystal headlights delivered and put them on the car last week, came with LED's too which is much nicer on the backroads here and helps freshen up the front of the car. Also got bored on Monday and bought a PA system and installed it on Tuesday, just put it on the driver's side of the engine bay where there's plenty space, drilled 2 holes and wired it up, quite fun on nights out speaking through it or blasting "its da sound of da police" 🤣I know its childish but its cheap fun for the time being

I'll get pics of it in the engine bay when its not raining, one of my mates is practicing his weldings and will make me an exhaust once he feels confident so hopefully soon enough she'll sound decent too. Probably going to buy an EU spec tail light too for the passenger side as they have their reverse lights on the other side, means it'll be red in the bottom on both sides and just swap it out for MOT time until I get a green glanza bootlid with the lights on

Gave her a good few cleans recently too with wax and claybar, really makes it shine nicely now and stay cleaner for longer, gotten quite a few compliments past 2 weeks on it and asked the mechanic here if he does underseal, he doesn't but will get back tomorrow once he's asked around for good places up here 👌

  6. I've to put on the headlights on mine next but jacked the car up earlier today to put on some new wheels I bought a few weeks ago, for £120 I can't complain they sit nicely in the arches and look good lol just has winter tyres on the back and center caps missing. I think it looks really good with these wheels I just need to check if its rubbing anything cause I'm sure I could hear a slight noise when driving above 20-30mph maybe against the caliper or something, had a girl on the sidewalk turn around and look so guessing it must be hearable from outside lol hopefully nothing major they're 15/195/55 with I think 38 offset if I'm not mistaking, they're Lenso BMX's.

Also not Starlet related really but got my Cupra mapped 5-6 weeks ago at SM Remapping, thing's so nice to drive now, 220hp, 336nm of torque and temperatures didn't even change so don't need to go for a FMIC on that for now. Brought it to a meet last weekend and seen a turbo'd starlet think he's on Starlet society said he's running 250hp atm and was getting it mapped again this weekend sounded nice hopefully on these forums too and a cheeky pic with  my mate's K swapped 1.6 lol znLrFqhBTUKrDY3J8cxm7TGiDEFJVd9XkyHIoOzEqmmI93jMJo21w2adcp7HKezP_ZM7A5M8DYHSST98xXu4LImdOdw584au__kvPjSzhGGuSh4XG3o2GfCRDrZO3wIBN5Upvc34w6AW5EhVIyLJkCuidK9tagMWaJpY3FOOf-BV5BOEJkvKIQ2R-Xq5ydTT1RijbbYYXsVBoS7l2hw8CjGB9OBJ6Hyn3nj23Y9TIaYq4RUPvzZhWQO30FFzfB8NOlbQeEYGC44IdaUoJW7aKGgpJ-NcHcYHXfGYqavZA0K3stc0JEoD1GBswYfi9xfpyhzEovB1d73WsscDOpFxM36GfIpsrhEPhIXq2vcyhDKXzFje_2uE294u5xOxbINaU0prj-zsoVExvfPdSVKxFJS6W2_e3WvrjRoxqdR43ptpSCE1QGzW82FOHnNY-4nj4NrBY_0Omq9FGLf7ZAgXqz5pN05YbuL1svJH9Crx71BtyldF4nkYqpKT-PzOI_G2Y5Dxo6dM7ebXRp9-dNCWOtavAxmGFDKhL2motZjr1CMY6bc24n5_C_1PJTdK2YMCNaVzotRugWkAxjx1tRkK6W4hApsf0R1xDwRthLj0dpaH7BaqbgHAbCia8z1KpucRRLqw1MMvNiFxe_GGWu-aN9ZxR7D7luPjnleKwWQoTz-rM2OyMa0hC9iXsmrpbP3tPIDx2daS0boDjU3XCLZU9ZQPAYx-DmLlLEEAqt0XzbEA5vysaiOGsDXrbSg1fyc=w2048-h1536-no?authuser=0BJk1e-pI16kOuVqGrvPgtlI_jUI0uCBkRI7swrfKBSE5Gm5WX7Xx2bsL4tS7junGm84muiTHKEgia8gnXMukbYeor2L8L3mjOLIYNlzjmpur0asaVWETdKWMgn7a0Y_RiBn-ed9QrcQfSfQeTJuQTq-eodi786oip-CljijvQgWICgg0mHerWwH3ZkRU3Mmnn4Axxwi4wPLDVVTfrJ_7YW5e99aseL7nFZ9PHEO4ac_G6u0Z6JdjQf0UB3nwjn25bhI9r7haUZlp9kd2XMgdUYhtf-xJnYlgV0QEtyzk-0Rpgl1UJ3wjI6MLrwpxPjH7YEHs5PUBIXlGQpBeVU8ryi-Ku3IiSYQzXWRUKMGhUbrPFS_B3LasCBEPcjfVdV7Tw9bpbpF9FdHpyQDKlK1ogCS3AOEAz_BjmDbofaXAZ1EWr1xbImypSLgyUd7-OmzpEabp38bXNsXHZVWct5dpbRLh4_dAL6X83HILOfn4fy4mwYoW2ejVQFPzYNVfWb-N746C3SxCf0q5mg5gYF7mLoiesgfYvOKiuISDq_XwQNp9gx8Ma8v-AwCuBChEc6aJDtr0lU0U0smcvuvwcfQlRJ4BwbhLBMJj1pbR1ptpRYSBQ7gtwFfKzlYDxMwjjBa0Z3qfjto2Ntx9VTgsu2LUHaxKvzxKyCGXAERxtR68iq7CJkOAgvRMGu_EOg4aU0GMP06hb-Brh3-4oIYyM54BPKXm6ey-eNg95Whzc3PN4B18zcq2ScLRGMokpei0ArY=w1460-h1946-no?authuser=0LNegobgnu5n_MtLmoMDwV-fAhOGetOAKRSRpAFoK5qqDS1hw-lABlQo1-AO7h4ir9L4xHuvPb-43hHQt_4ZNf2RybaB_txXKE4geyrY4syC6leONAVPldZA7GnIE0jCZVLIo5CJty_uanGWWDEO8UjPglg0a8_9b5RxSdhctNmIJi7pgm4i74D2-9n3GOVslGbJQPS2JFV18nT8AoR-SmG5ZOrzCaQoLBD4xosvnfr2mFTZTCe9zZSHrTFpy8p6JYVZ5SKUB_iS-KEmbBA55wZComcxMmpM4Ys_KaDhGBlVQ4lB1Hr528clfLpNJIvDDHS_NLlFNDUnhpsnoV5q6PSRGOMQyE_ZdnTtZTthCDpiVsNCtWBrsaay3zPhWZrvnutQ2FxDzEpY31gX9UNYhmSyROvislQi8XVUBr1leXGm7fQkM6Yo8tK5ifky2OswkMm5xpvFL3S1BR6VdpLwi41XKoBT5YeGC0P1N8WKo4uVXlTsR-O4dHNKLSC2YvmvmYXDePoB2r1839WvbcC0qlFR2zfkjzRCGDMtUxbgbh-SG2EM5__JtrEGYSXSSOPF1vAC1wahnfuZPU2GQgQSeUAtzVJC2T-B0scm_vE29WNbj5sbFSfl_4dMMfCcq8loTaW1AkgydeJuVJcyDSopHQpfXGbdmjKc1f7C7OiO0ECopd5i4jzIWDQ3ABIyF_CipG-QCqGgxBoJWcQ4c6uKvqsPoOhxjNt4f7r1pnPoLMdnRZtwrHytDAAjcG3UO1Hg=w1460-h1946-no?authuser=0

Great to meet you Patrick! Yes, sadly the car is going to be broken. Must say, I have fallen in love with the colour a little.

The engine will be transplanted into my car, which is currently burning oil. I'll use your engine whilst I have mine out to make turbo preparations on my engine and then it will be built as a spare.

The Box and all thats attaining to it will be going to Reece Cummings (Reece lad if you read this, get on here properly and start a build thread!) To manual swap his home made turboed car (he's done it for less than 400quid, it may not be pretty but it beat an Astra VXR with a video to prove it!)

The fuel tank is going to be helping@connorkyleget his road worthy, as its abit leaky at the moment lol. His uncle was into starlets way back when and used to race sprint series and had plenty of parts stashed till Connor raided them. Connors is fully TTE kitted, from his uncles old stuff!

I suppose what I'm trying to say is, the bits definitely won't be going to waste!

P.S, you might have caught the best picture of my grandads repaint here, the metalic really pops in the sun!

Hi mate, nice to know its atleast went to someone from the forums which is always better, atleast its parts live on to help other starlets, keeps more on the road. That's not a bad price at all to turbo any car lol I'm looking at getting some alloys for mine now that I've lowered it. Those TTE parts will most likely shoot up in value in a few years so he'll probably need to fight off offers from people in the future lol. That Shogun certainly looked nice and clean good thing its been restored, should last a few more decades at least. Goodluck on your turbo build though I'll be looking on updates on your thread mate

  8. Well, that's the turquoise starlet gone now, sold it on Ebay and Callum Wellens who's also on this forum came up to get it. Sad to see her go honestly feels weird lol her parts will live on in other starlets, hopefully keeps a few more on the road now.  This'll probably be the end of this thread on the forum and I'll keep going in the new one with the other Starlet.

  9. I was surprised with how clean it is, there's one that's been for sale for months now with 29k miles seems clean too but its salmon pink lol and the guy wants 2k for it, I suppose there's still a lot of low mileage ones going for sale on facebook and autotrader still but a lot of them are automatics, useless for me but might be useful if its just a donor car for you, there was one with 70k miles or so for 800 last week when I bought this.

That's me just paid the guy for the crystal headlights too so next week or so I'll probably install them, I'm not looking forward to taking off the headlights though it was an absolute nightmare last year for me when it should've been so simple, didn't want to unhook itself

  10. So after more or less giving up my first starlet after its needing repairs from the crash I bought another one last weekend while drunk at a club...which turned out very well actually.

Went down to Sheffield on Monday onced I sobered up and had a look at it, it's a write off to the insurance because of the damage to the boot and bumper...a joke lol.

Sills are perfect, genuinely perfect, not a spot of rust underneath, only has 44k miles was owned for 8 years by Hyundai dealerships since 2014 as a "float car" to move parts between stores I'm guessing. Written off in 2015 so I'm going to assume someone must of reversed it into a customer's car or something that needed insurance and got wrote off like that. Paid £790 for it which I think is a decent price nowadays especially for the mileage when most people are asking £1,500 for ones with 100k+ miles and laugh at my offers of 8-900. Anyways drove her back up no problem and already lowered her, noticed one of the cv boots is held on with zipties when i was taking off the shock absorbers so I've got one to be picked up at eurocarparts later today, in the process of buying crystal headlights for it and looking for an exhaust if anyone's selling and willing to ship to scotland or located not too far from Glasgow. Had my dose of driving to the midlands 5x this month lol. Can't really think of what else to type atm so just gonna slap some photos of it, probably gonna steal the clear indicator lenses off my other starlet and put on this and maybe the cone air filter for that extra noise lol. Needs new tyres as they're perished a bit but probably gonna get wider alloys or get these steelies banded. Next step is probably get the windows tinted and I won't be doing that myself with how awful I am at tinting....and give the car a good polish and wax with my mate as the paint is really good on it but the cupra and starlet are dusty with the sun recently. Got a roof spoiler for it given by a mate but its white so might try repaint it or get it repainted to match the colour before I put it on.

Sidenote: Could tell the shocks and springs were never replaced from factory as the top nuts on the dampers still had the orange wax around the nut to prevent rust or whatever, plenty of it lol. Also installed the panhard bar off gizfab but we messed around with the threads before reading that it was already pre-threaded to the exact length so hoping its at exactly 15mm each side, same number of threads so....lol
My mate who was helping me since he had spring compressors kinda fell in love with how clean it was and easy it is to work on and now wants one too, he's got 2 civics one was a 1.6 he swapped with a K20 off his old type r that got written off, quite nice his one tbf.

Thinking of getting it undersealed in the summer since the underside is so clean it needs protected lol, wouldn't even require much prep work before spraying as it is.

Atleast my starlets get to meet before the other one goes, building my army of them should buy more lol, anyways hope you guys enjoyed the first verse of the bible I just wrote and the stupid amound of pictures

Hope this helps, picture is from an online Toyota parts catalogue. Looks like a single bolt to hold the levelling motor in.

Also, most of the photos in this thread aren't visible, just links.

Cheers idk why it does that with the photos I’ll try sort it out, managed to get it from ID workz that bolt now trying to get a reply from people breaking starlets for a new washer fluid reservoir as mines cracked everywhere 😂 no luck so far

  12. Not posted here in a while but may as well put an update.

I sold the glanza tail lights as I really didn't like the look of them on a stock starlet, didn't suit it, surprisingly sold them for a lot more than I bought them just 3 months earlier, almost double. Since May the only changes I've made to it have been a pvt reg and that's all I can remember doing to it. I bought a 2004 Leon Cupra in August and that has been my weekend car now but at the start of December someone crashed into my Starlet when pulling out from a side street onto a main road, expecting traffic of both ways to stop to let them through in heavy rain...luckily they admitted fault directly but that meant the car had some damage and having to deal with insurance for 2 months without it only got it back yesterday after 7 weeks with seized callipers or drums now I need to check....cheers. Anyways bought a white passenger wing, new headlight, indicator for £60, was gonna buy a bonnet but I seen in the pics mine can still be bent back out I think, to an extent. Guy gave me a free spoiler too as we talked for ages sound cunt offered me to come up if I'm ever stuck working on it at some point. soon as I got the car back now I tightened the handbrake as it was quite loose, jacked the car up and started removing the fender liner and fender, need to re-attach the washer hose to the reservoir though as that popped out in the crash leaking everywhere but I'm not sure where the right hole for it is, I took a pic and hopefully you guys can tell me if that's the right spot. indicator plug got smashed to bits too but luckily cables all intact so will just connect them to new plug but noticed the headlight "frame" bit is kinda bent, not sure if that would affect the fitment of the new headlight or the aim of it etc?  Tomorrow or on Monday I'll probably put the white fender on and try connect the headlight then ask my mate for his solder for the indicator. Forgot to mention insurance only paid out £600 for the car...which I mean fair enough considering the age but still hurts when its a better condition car than a 2011 focus...bought it back for £60 so I'll have the leftovers to pay for the new lowering springs I bought and tyres I'm getting for its MOT that ran out the other day. she's a Cat N now. Still planning to turbo it in the summer now that my pal has offered to help me with it as I couldn't do that by myself without the knowledge. Between the fender and door was full of hay and piles and piles of earth, she must of been a farm car before I bought it but no rust at all behind it when cleaned off, might aswell clean behind the other fender as I know it'll be the same :)

  13. So some little updates, After getting the new sliders the caliper seized again so got a used caliper and put that on, so far so good....

Wanted to tint my headlights yellow as I have some tint film here and was going to remove them to bring them in so I can use my hairdryer, everything seemed fine until what I believe is the last clip just not wanting to release AT ALL, put my entire weight, up down, sideways, car moved in every direction but not the headlight unit, after 30 mins I gave up and put it back, now its slightly wobbly and not as firm as the other one which is bothering me 🤣 what on earth is there to do to remove them? It seems like the bottom clip just wont unclip, the other one I could release the black tab with a flathead or even remove the clip by sliding it off the balljoint sideways, tried to push the bottom balljoint downwards for it to slide off but nothing, really tight angle, I think I could do it with the bumper off but couldn't be bothered tonight. Will try again another time lol.

Also got a pvt reg R40WDM for the belgian football club I support RWDM47 😉 was gonna buy a clio rs200/197 and put the plates on that but when I got insurance quotes the company refused cause of the hp and my age(1998)...so will try again in October when I switch back with AdrianFlux, can't be bothered paying two insurances rn, will likely keep the starlet for the winters I think. Not that it's done that many miles in the year I've owned it anyways.

    All sorted, pics showing.

I'm fine with the lights they're an upgrade from stock which is a 👍. Lexus style lights are ricey (if people remember them!)

I think they're actually Glanza 98 spec rear lights (grey plastic, bubble lenses) as opposed to starlet reflet lights (red plastic, bubble lenses)? Not really my area.

I'm sure Toyota or maybe even eBay have the replacement caliper sliders, use an online parts catalogue to get the part number, then start googling. Sometimes its a nice surprise from the dealer, sometimes its scary how expensive parts are, doesn't seem to be any reason either!

I think I know the Lexus lights you're on about, I seen some too lol, I'm not sure on the difference between the reflet and glanza so I'll just say you're right 😂 I managed to find on Autodoc some sliders with rubber boots so hopefully should be all good, had found some on Ebay too but wasn't sure if the Glanza ones fit the N/A calipers which apparently they do too. Thankfully didn't need to ask the dealership for parts :D think Autodoc wanted £11 for them then had to pay for delivery £8

Nice one dude, she's coming along steady. What do you have planned next? I'm on the fence about the reflet lights personally, I've just bought a pair of the normal style so I can chop and change, I guess you can do the same now too!

Depends really, I'm debating on getting another starlet but a 3dr and to use that one as the one to do up with lowering springs etc and keep this as a daily or get another Celica again for the weekend as I do miss my old one a lot. So I probably won't spend anything much on it atm apart from maintenance stuff. Maybe refurb the alloys to get them painted into gold or get a set of smaller alloys if I do lower it. I was gonna get an exhaust but there is an annoying rattle when I accelerate hard that it just wouldn't be worth it, it sounds like fuel injectors but I replaced them a few months ago (with used ones but idk) so until I get that sorted probs won't put an exhaust, seems to happen in low and high rpm's when its heavy under load, if I don't floor it it won't do it...seen someone selling a roof spoiler for it in the same colour as mine but managed to convince myself out of it for now. The lights are a hit and miss for me so far, it might change with time, at night they look great when they're on, and in person it can look decent too but there are angles especially in the photo where it lookes ricey imo so debating....will probs keep them on just cause I recently got them would be a shame 😂

Sounds like some good progress, but I can't see the pics on my phone or laptop mate.

Hmmm that is weird, I sometimes can't see certain pics on the pc either but I can for the moment, I'll try re-posting them on here then hopefully works now

  17. Hello, been a while since the last update, just updating the thread a bit, recently got another oil change done, got the airbag recall done last week by Arnold Clark who wanted £120 to replace my door handle as they're typically half broken lol... ain't happening. Managed to find a set of bubble reflet lights too for a pretty good price and lastly last week replace my discs and pads as they were at the end of their cycle basically, but when dealing with the front passenger side I noticed how stiff the guide pins were, grease was no help. Brought it to my mechanic quickly in the hopes he'd manage to free it up which he did but it still seems somewhat stuck as its still half seized so I went to have a look at replacement calipers but they're £55 new off Autodoc so wondered if anyone knows where to buy just new guide pins and rubber seals before I go out and buy a whole caliper :)  Also got clear lenses put on the indicators which helps freshen up the look a bit. Dunno if the bubble lights make the car look rice or not though...they look decent in person imo but when taking a pic at looked not all that good 🤣 Passed my mot in january too and when dealing with the oil change had a look under the car, chassis looked very clean for a 1998 imo, dog loves the car too as she can sit in the parcel shelf again unlike in the Celica 😂

  18. Changed my fuel injectors earlier after I got a used set delivered, all simple and easy to do but I've managed to drop one of the rubber guards into the engine bay and when pushing my fingers down to get it I managed to push it out of sight and reach...would I be okay driving without it anyways? I'd imagine its just there to prevent dirt getting on the bolt thread? Just waiting on my clear indicators to arrive too🤣 Next is to get it booked in for it's mot next month, get to see my wonderful dog in the bottom of the last pic thinking its food for her 🤣

  19. Currently waiting on new clear lenses for the indicators as one of them that came was cracked but I'm also waiting on injectors off somebody to hopefully fix the annoying noise, I've never done this before so I just want to clear up, the fuel rail, do I turn off the pressure with the sort of bolt that's located on the side of it on the right side? Or is there a fuse for it?

Also postponed replacing my heater matrix as I'm lazy and its somehow got its act together now most of the time, so until it breaks... 🤣

  20. Thanks, I'll have a look, one thing I've had with the car since i've bought it is a tapping noise when I put the engine under load, always when I "floor" it in low rpm's or when its higher up the rpm's, essentially whenever more load is on the engine, I was thinking it would be the injectors? Kind of hard to get a video of it happening as usually my phone just captures road/engine noises, it sounds like a rattle like noise except its not
