  1. Stickers look great, but do we even have 50 active members anymore. And if we do who will be willing to pay for these stickers. I think it's a great idea don't get me wrong, but nothing happens these days nobody seem to want to improve the forum considering the amount of suggestions put forward.

161 Members have visited UKSO today so far.

At this moment in time. 14:53 - 27/9/17.

32 of 70 Remaining to purchase!

Unsure why everyone thinks this forum is dead or not used.

The stats tell me a very different story :)

  2. Love a good track car build! Two questions.....

1: where the glanza stand now? An update is needed

2: your wife/girlfriend must like you alot to deal with the starlet fever you have

    James

1, Update coming on that soon! Not enough time in the day!

2, She is very accommodating... :)

What you doing looks really good Matt, what is the spec of the EP3?

    Cheers dude.

There both prepped by Area Motorsport.

Add 'joeburgess_94' and 'm15_kco@ on insta. You'll see!

Love the noise off it.. how'd you do that

Cheers dude. Pretty basic setup tbh, see the spec above in the thread.

You can't knock those Honda's. That's one thing I noticed about the Starlets out on track. Every one I've seen needed to pit for a little breather, compare it to the EK9's or EF's which would be out all day like on the limiter....

Looks like a great day though.

Generally N/A cars dont struggle with temps as much as turbo'd cars.....

    Anyhow.....

Got my Grex Oil Cooler fitted now!

Its certainly sorted out the oil temp issues. I cant get temps above 90c now hehe :)

At Cadwell on the 13th July. So we shall see how she does!

  3. So, before the 3rd track day this year, the car needed some improvements!

First off being Brakes. The stock Toyota Brakes were great on track but after a day, they sounded dreadful, it had taken its toll! They wouldn't have done another....

The discs were fine and in good condition. but the pads not so much!

    So thanks to Amjad....

    post-2707-0-17186200-1497003883_thumb.jp

The noises went away and these things are shockingly shit when cold but when up to temp.... Jeez.

You can feel the back go light, more then enough power to lock the front wheels completely. Even on semi slicks up to temp too!

Then to try and close the distance to the civics, some suspension/setup work were needed!

So opted for Whiteline's Front Camber Bolts & Rear Anti Roll Bar.

Then had the whole thing setup to my preferences at a local KwikFit on a Tiger Laser Align.

    post-2707-0-53435800-1497004305_thumb.jp

Opted for No Toe Angle and -2deg front camber.

These changes made a huge difference to the cars behaviour that is for sure.

    post-2707-0-71979900-1497004316_thumb.jp

Then to keep an eye on things. Stack Oil Temp Gauge in a custom mounting plate...

    post-2707-0-24807200-1497004494_thumb.jp

This would reveal an issue on the next track day where thanks to a heat spell of 30deg ambient. Oil temps were getting worrying!

Followed finally by a hypersport shifter (combined with an interior one too)

    post-2707-0-88085900-1497004559_thumb.jp

    Shifts are super short now!

    Bit more weight saving:

    post-2707-0-28874100-1497004667_thumb.jp

    Cabin looking proper now.

    post-2707-0-30212800-1497004690_thumb.jp

So it was time for the next track outing!

Car performed Great! Felt much more stable and really planted compared to before.

However, oil temps were a real issue. 4-5 laps of Blyton was seeing it soar to over 120deg at which time I was backing off and heading in. So lots of short sessions! Which was annoying!

The civics were much closer this time and the car was much more competitive...

Was struggling with understeer on the long sweeping left hander at Blyton. But on the brakes and in the slower corners the Starlet is far superior to the Ep3!

More setup and Changes needed tbh!

    See some video footage here:

    So.... again things to improve....

    Oil Temps need lowering.

Oil Breather System.... Erm. It needs one....

Its going to need a bit more power on larger tracks to stay with those Pesky Ep3s! So maybe a TF035 at some point....

    More to come folks

  4. Well. Its been nearly two years since this thread has been updated.... SO! Here goes!

The car has been parked up for a year while ive been busy with other projects and various other duties.

I decided I wanted to get on track more, this thing was laying around so decided, sod it. Track Car.

The thing was already reasonably spec'd, few tweaks here and there and she would be ready!

So gave the thing a bath.

    post-2707-0-37950100-1496918935_thumb.jp

    The current spec list was:

    Power Getter Exhaust

    Decat Pipe

    HKS Actuator 0.7bar

    HKS Mushroom Filter

    50mm Springs & Standard Shocks

    FMIC Kit

    Powerflex Rear Gearbox Mount

    Short Shifter

    Recaro SR3 on ZEP Rail

    OZ Superleggra Wheels & Parada's

    OEM LSD Box

    So first things first!

I got the car weighed at the local weigh bridge.

    Accurate to within 5kg.

    post-2707-0-00405700-1496919093_thumb.jp

With all the interior, ICE, seats. etc I was happy with that!

    So weight saving started!

Once stripped, noticed a water leak into the boot. Was coming from the rear lights....

    post-2707-0-06649900-1496919335_thumb.jp

    New Seals

    post-2707-0-48430400-1496919350_thumb.jp

    Then some sound deadening removal.

    post-2707-0-88246800-1496919431_thumb.jp

Ill get this painted inside at some point!

    Rear Wiper Gone:

    post-2707-0-92487000-1496919524_thumb.jp

More Engine Bay Shite, including ancient alarm (I have immobilised the car in a different way)

    post-2707-0-01827100-1496919575_thumb.jp

Fitted the other 2 Powerflex Polybushed mounts and some Magnecore HT Leads.

    post-2707-0-97536200-1496919930_thumb.jp

Did a full service and put some Castrol Edge Supercar 5w60 Oil in. Along with a fresh dizzy cap and rotor arm, Oil Filter, Fuel Filter. etc

A Low Black Sun Strip as the Seat is so low.... and I removed the sun visors.

Then fitted some 195/50/15 Federal 595RSR Tyres.

Then finally, a trip to see Nick & Mike @ TD to get this fitted:

    post-2707-0-14157200-1496920028_thumb.jp

The car made 185.0bhp at 1bar.

Then it was time for Blyton Park again!

Got 2 very close mates who I do track time with who have Ep3's that are tweaked to a pretty high standard!

Had a great day, was a nice cool day. Had no troubles all day. It was very hard work to try and stay with the ep3, but considering money spent, certainly cant complain!

The tyres were really really good! Very impressed!

    post-2707-0-33283100-1496920609_thumb.jp

After this day, there were many things that came to light, where improvements needed to be made and mods needed to be fitted!

    Updates Soon.

  5. Love the pics, seen the first 10 or so mins so far. Battle with the Grey one was nice, how much power is it running?

I reckon some coilies would help reduce the body roll then you'd want to chase aero. Bit of left foot braking will help tuck into those tight left-rights and keep the diff loaded ;)

Both the Grey & Red EP3's are 210-215bhp. (Low Miles, Gruppe-M Intake, Cat-Back Exhausts & Fully Stripped Out (No Carpets, Roof Liners, Plastics. etc)) They are very well prepared. On a bigger track they will walk away from this GT Im sure.

Yeh, the GT is very basic. Even with my lack of racing driver talent and with a very basic spec GT, chasing something like that is fairly respectable.

  6. How come you aren't tracking the white one?

Hasn't moved this year. Have so much money in it now that using it is always a worry lol. Especially with the quality of some of the driving I have seen on track days recently!

Crash this GT I can just reshell it. No Harm Done. The Glanza has pretty serious fab and mods to make a re-shell very expensive and time consuming. Might change but for the time being, cheap thrills!

May change someday but for time being....

How did you find the federal 595rsr's mate im looking into decent set of rubber for mine.

Very impressive. Up there with AD08's!

I got a great deal on mine, £200 delivered pretty much! Which is awesome!

When you get them up to temp. I was very impressed!

  7. Had some fun with some mates yesterday. I live 2 miles from Blyton Park, so can go a little harder then normal without worrying about getting home lol.

They both have some seriously spec'd EP3's. (Red & Grey).

Don't expect miracles. Its only lightly modded.

Engine: Exhaust, Decat, FMIC, E-Manage Blue Mapped to 1bar. Stock Engine & Turbo.

Chassis: Whiteline Rear Anti-Roll Bar, Whiteline Front Camber Bolts, Alignment. 195/50/15 Federal 595RSR.

Some areas where aero is really needed and my driving skills need honing too, However! Smiles per Miles! :)
