  1. great, i'll see what i can do with the price, he has asked for pictures of my rev 3 mr2 turbo as a part ex, well he will be giving me money as well. lol just wanted to make sure nothing shouted out to the people in the know, once i get one of these i'll tear it apart learn everything about them and start doing specalist parts and a tuning service through the business. just need the car first Tim TB Developments
  2. What you guys think of this? Might be intersted in it, i'll be ok going to look at the mechanics of it but its the finer details that will evade me until i get to learn more about these cars, anything that jumps out like wrong year bumper on the car or lights from a none turbo etc, or something that might just scream lower model version etc. its a 1997 and done 62k and is a grade 4 import. let me know your throughts guys Tim TB Developments
  3. think the easist way would be to drop it over the rear wheels instead and make it rear wheel drive, move the fuel tank etc to the front bonnet to ballance the weight as the engine is now in the back. Or you could be very brave and fit it into the front, add a transmission tunnel and use the running gear from gt4 celica, custom driveshafts and prop and away you go Tim TB Developments
  4. generation 3 3sgte nice we've just started used those in the mr2 world now, its also what we've been on planning next for ours and last time i did the flow calculations it should be good enough for 1100bhp man thats gotta be insane in a light car like a starlet Tim TB Developments
  5. you guys do realise you using both new and old generation garrett names in the same thread, so this could be a little confusing Tim TB Developments
  6. sorry not been on this thread for a while as i'm still not getting topic replies well turbo stall and surge is the same thing, surge is the technical name for it as thats what its doing, you lift off the throttle body closes which inturn adds increased resistance or "load" to the turbocharger, this will then push the compressor map into the surge portion, creating that fluttering or chirping sound often called stall or "wastegate chatter" despite it having nothing to do with a wastegate at all. Tim TB Developments ps, mods if you can get these email topic replies to work that would be grea
  7. great, heres my number anyway dude, 07779415207 just give me a buz before you turn up Tim TB Developments
  8. definitly mate, just give me a buzz first to make sure i'm in i saw a black starlet coming back from stourport today dunno if thats anyone from here. Also admin did what you said with the topic replies and still don't get any ;) Tim TB Developments
  9. i can only go on my experience but i've personally not seen any issues, and also the 3sgte versions are solids not hollow, but thats only going on the 3sgte ones i use. But we are having to go to Todas for the new engine as HKS don't make anything larger than 272 for the mr2 Tim TB Developments
  10. well to be fair duration doesn't really have much effect on the displacement of the engine, 314's don't idle for shit either lol but then again neither do 1150cc injectors its all designed for top end, and its designed to have no low down power anyway as its setup for drag. Don't know about hks for the starlet but we get 2 hight options on the 3sgte, and i've found nothing wrong with hks, had great suscess Tim TB Developments
  11. yeah i know andy nice chap yes mines the red mr2, well its kinda pink at the moment as i'm fitting a full tom's bodykit and then getting the whole lot resprayed. Its been kinda put on hold at the moment as i've just signed the lease on a new unit for doing a fitting service for the mr2, but if anyone needs a hand give me a shout i'd appchiate the work ;) the unit is on sandylane in stourport so gonna be doing fitting there but keeping the parts and the RnD section at home still, your welcome to give me a shout if you around be good to meet you. We also have our own online forum, be good to
  12. ps admin, how can i get my topic replies to work....... where it emails me when someone replies to a subscribed thread? Tim TB Developments
  13. tha black one isn't ours. thats a ex good friend of mine called nathan at century motorsport, and whats turned into the bane of my life. Used to be good friends i got him into mr2's and showed him the ropes then stabbed me int he back, started his own mr2 business saying he was gonna put me outta business oh well i'm not bitter lol ste91 i'm on marlpool, it is a good road but its a bit short. i used to use it for testing and setting up boost controllers but when your doing some 600bhp+ stuff and your hitting 160mph by the tip its a bit silly, so have to use something a bit longer and safer
  14. well were trying to be kind to the car off the line and holding back, launching at 5k over 8k and no launch control, also you noticed we didn't really heat the tyres up much either as for the misfire we were loosing so much power, even though it was at 3.3bar of boost there wasn't any map for pressures that high, so i'd be suprised if it was developing anything over 500bhp is that condition and then popped 1/8th mile yet still had the fastest terminal of the day lol rather not say on the mapper if its ok, were not using them anymore so it'll only cause trouble Tim TB Developments
  15. thats actually the same thing again, its basically just an increased load on the compressor and pushes the operating point over the surge line on the compressor map like when you say the turbo is mismatched for the car and is trying to force air in to quickly than the engine can consume it, hense getting surge, or when you lift off the throttle. TB closes but the turbo is still being powered, pressure builds up and load and again pushes it into the surge part of the map Tim TB Developments
  16. yeah i'm from kidderminster few vids from last year, unfortuntly they aren't the best as we didn't get any of the 10.4 runs although we have the slips and this was from TOTB this year, unfortunatly the mapper messed us over and didn't set any limits on the map, so we hit 3.3bar huge missfires as there was no supporting map for those pressures and blew up 1/8th mile and coasted over the time. Saying that on that single run we can 3rd on the RWD section and fastest terminal speed of the day Tim TB Developments
  17. stupid question but did the interiors ever come in all black? think it would be nicer over the grey plastic Tim TB Developments
  18. don't mean to sound all rightous or anything but alot of that is incorrect...............don't be mad at me for point that out firstly with compressor surge, do you mean lift off surge or full load surge as there different Wastegate flutter is compressor surge, although it has nothing to do with the wastegate, and a turbocharger will never spin backwards and therefor doesn't have a name if you want me to go into more detal i can but don't want to come off all big headed. lol Tim TB Developments
  19. your right its all the same part with a different name. good old wiki, home written explanations without being checked to see if its accurate lol Tim TB Developments
  20. lol at the moment i'm looking at a nice ep91 take it to about 180bhp and leave it at that, still pokey but still better on fuel than my mr2. And if i get time i'll do a few little products for it since i'll have a base to work from. Oh also had the mr2 drag car mapped today with a revised spec, 810rwhp 955flywheel. 2.5bar without nitrous. 1000bhp here we come, still 2ltr. Tim TB Developments
  21. lol, started off this thing was ment to be a runabout for me. lol it'll end up with yet another impracticle road monster if i go any futher. Tim TB Developments
  22. would be the easiest way as well i recon. just weld in some cross brackest from the chassis rails for front and back engine mounts, custom hybrid driveshafts from the 3s box to the starlet hubs, and box the rear compartment off. easy Tim TB Developments
  23. yeah i know what you mean, unfortunatly i've not come accross tong turbo's before take it this is a starlet thing? and don't get me started on french shit, lol jap through and through now mate stop tuning cosworths and then euro stuff when i was 14 for a reason. lol all the parts you were talking are about dead easy to do, wouldn't have a problem making those kind of things, As for a demo car i think for now i'd just keep the starlet as my everyday runabout as were trying to break the mr2 world drag record at the moment so times invested elsewhere but i have no issues doing RnD on my own car
  24. lol thats for the new setup as we should be over the thou with that but we are revving to 11k redline as well so needed the extra duration. at the moment were using 272 degree HKS units on the lower lift 9.4mm lift and making just over 850bhp at 2.5bar of boost, should have just touched the 9's with that but badluck has been setting us back so best we've been hitting is repeated 10.4's Tim TB Developments
