  1. I think post count and lenght of membership should also be taken into consideration, At the end of the day anyone can purchase a £1.95 membership and start ripping people off straight away. I dont buy anything of annyone with a low post count, newbies or if they are not very active on the forum i also look at their previous posts etc,

That does work to an extent but there are quite a few of us that don't really post that much and as Matt has said post count limits just encorage spam on the board.

Like everything if someone is that determined to come on here and rip people off they will find a way, it's just a case of getting the balance right to put the scammers off from trying it on but not putting genuine menbers off from using the club and all it's features that it has to offer.

Going slightly OT but maybe folk have got to realise that maybe with the higher priced named brands there is a reason why they cost that much and it's not just a name you are paying for. Both major companys and some of the smaller ones sell products for resaonable prices when you take into account all the design, developement and testing costs a new product should go though before it reaches the market.

The old saying of "If somethings cheap it's always cheap for a reason" comes into play. If there is a product out there much cheaper than what everyone else is selling it for the first question should be why? In most cases this comes down to quality and the fact that it's a copied product saving that company the design and developement costs.

  2. Full story is that Apexi never made a power FC specifically for the starlet. There were two companys that adapted the power FC to be use on a starlet one was AP Engineering which are the more commonly found ones based on an MR2 unit. This one is one adapted by HRF, i'm not sure what the base unit was but could have been nissan based as they commonly use a MAF.

  3. yea i quite like the back ones too, not too sure as to plans - would like some warm weather so i can get some of my parts in like the new amp and speakers, also maybe the electric dimming mirror and external temp display

power wise not too sure, air filters don't do much on n/a mx5s so i'll prob avoid that, but would like a set of competition bushes for the engine and tranny. If I can hunt one down to an autoexe/mazdaspeed/maxim works header would be a good shout.

She also needs a new set of rubber and may get the wheels re-done a dark graphite/anthracite colour to tie it all in together

Still have a nice set of RC-II's :drinks:

  4. It's not the ecu that will make the power it's the man that maps it!

I've said it time and time again chosse your tuner then go with what he is happiest mapping then you will get the best results. If you have someone local that likes the unichip and knows it inside out then that would be the best thing to go for as you will get a better map/tune on that than you will giving your chosen tuner something that they are not familar with.

by the way before Dave Burwash found Matt at AFR and started using the F-con v-pro he did several builds back in the day close to 300hp all running a unchip as that was what the local guy understood and worked best with.
