  1. yea i know about it needing balanced and what not, was going to take the parts to a local engineering place to get it balanced. Is it just the shaft that needs balanced, or is it the whole core? Ive also heard that if you match mark the shaft to the turbines, it should be ok. 'should' being the main word there.

  4. hey guys, Ive got my hands on a spare ct9 turbine, i was wanting to have a go at rebuilding it myself just for a little project, ive been looking at rebuild kits on ebay from toyosports etc but not sure about quality so if anybody has any links or advice on better kits let me know please before i order off ebay at the end of the month. much appreciated
  5. Alright chaps, ive a problem with my keys on my 82. I bought the car with two keys for the front doors and ignition barrel but i have no key for the boot lid barrel and neither of my front door keys will open it. Im thinking that at some stage, a previous owner has changed the front locks due to breaking a key or something like that and never bothered with the boot lid as the cable lever in the footwell can open it. Its fine without a key for it, though im just looking ahead and thinking that im screwed if the cable ever snaps. Anyways, i was wondering if i took the key barrel from the b

  11. Running standard (i think) Got the full toyota set today. Was wondering if anyone has changed the valve seals, do i need to get my hands on a clamp or something suitable to press the springs down to get the keepers off? Not worried about dropping a valve as the heads going to be off anyways.

  13. howdy. Im intending to get head gasket kit this week for my ep82. Was just curious about what gasket to go for as i work in a toyota dealership and have no problem getting my hands on genuine parts for the 4efte (at discount ofcourse ). Though ive seen some people use these steel gaskets from athenas (i think) at silly money. Im in contact with quite a few Ae86 enthusiasts and they swear by the genuine toyota stuff. I dont intend on any big power gains in the near future, just want an engine thats running fine for the mean time (my valve stem oil seals are leaking abit ). Any advice mu

  15. Hi all, got a little question for any gt owners, where does the coolant temp needle normally sit when the engine has warmed up and driving down a road calmly? My needle will sit around the bottom of the gauge when driving rationally, but in traffic will go up to halfway waiting at lights and what not, fan also comes on when it reaches here. Was just wondering if this is normal or has anyone else came across this?
  16. Thought id re- introduce myself as ive been away for quite a while since selling my sr (why?). Ive been playing about over the past few years of heart ache deflooding my rx8, then onto a bmw 320d getting rid of my swirl flaps and adding a re-map or two. Although i moved on from my sr, ive found the light at the end of the tunnel and purchased a 1995 starlet gt. I intend to keep it for the foreseeable future as i feel nothing comes close to it. Howdy folks!
  17. after fighting with a few seized in screws and bolts thanks to a handy impact driver, i got the sensor off and as shahzad had predicted, the magnetic spindle thingy madoofer was seized, got a drop of carb cleaner in round it and freed it up, built it back up and shes running perfectly now. thanks shahzad, top marks!!!

  19. alright folks, i havent been posting on here in a while, but any help or point in the right direction is appreciated. ive tried searching the site for previous topics on this but cant find any. got a problem with my 4efe idle speed, its ok when warming up but when it gets there it goes up to 1500 rpm, it did bring the eml on before but ive since changed the TB and sensors on it and thats got the eml off, but still has the problem with idle speed. ive checked all vaccum pipes and TB to mani gasket and all seem ok. any other advice? thanks
