May i say the bumper looks fantastic.Idrees has done a top quality job on it and id recommend his services to anyone. I cant wait to buff up the laquer in a couple of days to give it a real shine!!!! And you have persuaded me to get the reflet lights.ill get them when i can be bothered. I have had one tiny problem with the exhaust. It has heated up some of the plastic bumper on the way home as we had the cutout so perfect. On the good side it seems to have melted equally around the exhaust so it has a small gap so i dont think it will melt anymore.Bonus!!!! Thanks for the comments on the

There is still gonna be a lot there though.everytime i see the list it gets longer and there is still just under a week to go!!!!!

Ive got back from a short break this afternoon so the brakes have had their final coat now and they have dried out today. Ive also copied Idrees's idea of spraying the backing of the indicators black.Sorry for copying but i really like the look of them. Then i gave the car a good wash and wax so i could take these pics. New bumper is going on tomorrow and i cant wait!!!!!!

I remember that!!! To be honest ever since you said that i was toying with the idea and after going to the meets my mind was virtually made up for me. My mind is made up though im definately doing it i just need to wait a short while as ive got a holiday to pay for then ill get the ball rolling. Cheers for everyones help and advice!!!!!

I think some southerners should do a road trip like me

I completely understand what people say when they say i might aswell get a GT/Glanza but at the end of the day its personal preference. I would like that performance straight out of the box but i want to do it myself as i love the look of my SR and i want a sleeper that will show up a few cars. I was originally planning to do this but as i dont have the time and space it would be quite difficult. The car would need the engine taking out, fixing up to the reconditioned standard then putting in the SR.Then i have the task of stripping the car for parts to sell.It is a good idea though, as you

Ive just got in from a long day so i havnt had a chance to log on. But the bumper looks sweet I cant wait to see it for real. The cut out looks like its gonna be a perfect fit aswell Thanks a lot matey!!!

They are a proper company. The reason for the bad spelling and punctuation is because they are japanese. The company is based in japan. It sounds awesome though. The engine is gonna be practically brand new.

OOOOooooooo!!! I feking love that!!!! I like bikes more than cars but id never buy one. I work in personal injury so ive seen some nasty accidents that have put me off.

Ive been a little busy with the car this bank holiday already. Ive had all the wheels off so i can give the brakes a bit of a service. They were all looking pretty crap behind my shiney wheels so ive given them a few coats of paint. The front calipers have been done in red and i think they look fab and the rear drums have been sanded down and re painted in black. I didnt do them in red as i hate it when people spray their drums (no offence if you have done it). Ive now started on some of the engine like all the little mounts for the radiator and the bottles. Im spraying them silver but i h

Veery nice!!!! I like the exhaust but as usual its personal preference. I bet it sounds as meaty as mine with not having a middle box. I cant wait for my bumper to go on and i bet you cant either becauses your getting my old one ;)

Right i now have a small update on this idea of mine. I have been doing a lot of research for doing this as if m gonna do it i want it doing right. ive e mailed several companies based in the UK and abroad about the engine as im not suceeding in finding a GT or glanza that has been bumped and located in England. The best response i think so far is this one and its a full copy of the email received. What do you guys think. Does this sound pretty good.Im pretty sure it is i just want a second opinion. Its basically the full conversion for £1000
-
I Was actually thinking i might come out better off if i did this as id get qute a bit for all the parts if i got a really cheap GT.Im planning on doing as much as i can myself so im gonna save tons on labour. The insurance isnt gonna be a killer neither.I used to pay £1450 for a 1.0l micra in my first year so i dont mind paying that little bit more.Im paying about £750-£800 now so im expecting it to be in the area of £1000 at the minimum. I want to be able to do this. ;) . Shock to the chavs in corsas is gonna be the most fun thing!!!!
-
How much are you looking for it. Dam!!!! Just noticed you are in northan ireland. I think that would be a little too far to travel as id need a trailer and to talk my dad into letting me borow his car. Im really getting into the idea of the conversion now.Im just waiting for some ideas on insurance.
-
I Know it would be a mint sleeper wouldnt it!!! MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM Sleeeeeeepppeeeeerrrrr I still need to look at insurance though. Any ideas on cost anyone @Dub se7en what are you paying for the insurance? Who are you with? Age? How many no claims? Thanks Im looking to buy a crashed GT for as little as possible and im gonna nick the engine and sell the salvagable bits.If anyone spots one give me a shout.Obviously the engine has to have survived the crash.
-
See there is a good side to the argument as to why i should do it and shouldnt: Should: The experience SLEEPER!!! The knowledge id gain The power Id get to keep my SR Shouldn't: Cost The effort in doing it Undoing it when i sell it Could just get a GT Getting all the bits I really want to do it though.I can imagin pulling up to some smart arse in a quick car and him/her laughing and me jus dusting him/her. Does anyone have any idea on insurance cost. Im 21 with a years no claims.Been driving for 2.5 years never had a bump or a endorsement.

Now i really wanna do it even more. The engine and the wiring i could probably do myself with some guided help incase i go wrong. Which engine would be better to get.The GT one or the Glanza one. I know they are the same engine im just thinking of the wiring.Ive read in the many posts ive seen that the wiring for the glanza would be better for the SR. Correct me if im wrong by the way as im just learning at the moment. What FMIC could i use? Would i have to find one from another car and Mod it?
-
I Know what you mean about the engine. Ive read loads of old posts in this forum and TGTT and it seems pretty straight forward to do.I would just have to sort the wiring out. I would obviously need a front mount intercooler aswell due to me not having an air scoop plus it would be better for performance anyway. Im still undecided though. Ive also got to think of insurance costs aswell. Here is a list of what i think i need: 4EFTE (duurr) Wiring loom Front mount intercooler Piping for the intercooler Engine lift I was also thinking i might aswell mod the engine whilst its out of the car so

Right, ever since going to the Kent meet and seeing a gt and a glanza move so quick ive desperatly wanted that speed. My urge for it was made even worse at the Trafford meet when i saw Dub se7en's conversion. I would save for a glanza or gt but i want to try this one out for myself. Plus for some reason i love the looks of my black SR more than a glanza. I would love to make my SR into a 4EFTE. but im worried about the cost and the difficulty in doing it. I have a mechanic to hand to help but im still unsure. Has anyone got any rough ideas on total cost including engine and what the hell wo

Thanks!! Im gonna leave the exhaust cut out to idrees as he knows what he is doing. If you look carefully at the bumper you can see its already got a little cutout. The car i got it off must have had a performance exhaust on it. Anyway the bumper is now in the capable hands of idrees and its gonna be on my car for next week. cant wait. In the mean time ive just been cleaning my car as i do every weekend. here is some new pics The last is my current favourite
