Ignition timing ok?
Stock motors?
stock motors, havent messed with the ignition timing at all on either of them but when i got the car the engine that was in it the boy wasnt sure if it was timed correctly but it ran good and is much better than the one that am sure is timed correctly

just changed my engine over to a spair one whilst i rebuild it, before i was getting full boost about 3500rpm and then it would be super fast above 60mph but not so fast to 60 also the dump valve was tempimental, now with this other engine in and thats all that was changed, the boost comes on early but the car is no where near as fast above 60 and the dump valve opens normally :S??? could it be one engine has high lift cams?
both engines are similair mileage and condition

must have, it didnt help that the boy who tested my car owns an astra gsi which i smoked a couple of weeks before

mines a 93, put it through with a gutted cat and it failed they made it do the full emissions test, had to get a cat to pass, i would change it as its less hassle than failing and then having to fit it anyway and get it in for a resit.
-
ask him what he put in on the emissions test? cause theres nothing on the database for an emissions test for a GT so he's got no data to compare it too
hence why a proper emissions test is not needed
i will ask when i take it back in should be friday, waiting for a cat to arrive then am just goin to put the standard regulator back on and see if it passes
-
u shouldnt of had a full emissions test mate just an idle test
yeah i thot so tryed to explain that to the guy but he was sure it needed that emissions test
hav turned the regulator down to 2.4bar now and it will be goin for a retest tomorrow

heres a list of what it failed on:
Nearside Front position lamp(s) incorrect colour (1.1.A.2c)
Offside Front position lamp(s) incorrect colour (1.1.A.2c)
Nearside Headlamp aim too high (1.
Offside Headlamp aim too high (1.
Nearside Registration plate lamp bulb not working (1.1.C.1c)
Rear fog lamp obviously incorrectly positioned (1.3.2a)
Exhaust emissions carbon monoxide content after 2nd fast idle excessive (7.3.D.2b)
Exhaust emissions hydrocarbon content after 2nd fast idle excessive (7.3.D.2b)
all of these are easily enough fixed just the emissions thats annoyin, my cars a 93 gt registered on december 31st 1992, i am sure this means it has only got to pass a basic emissions test ie just idling?
also, i am running a full 2-1/2 s/s exhaust with gutted cat, rrfpr and fcd, front mount intercooler, my regulator is set at 2.6bar fuel, any idea if it will be enough to pass emissions test just turning it down to 2.4bar as when i put the standard fuel regulator back on it runs crap and backfires high up the rev range, cheers

quick intro just bought a 1993 starlet gt turbo Ep82, underneath is immaculate and got it a bargain price as it had engine faults. when i bought the car it was running rough and had an idling problem where the revs would go up and down, got it home to find two of the plugs full of water, so it was running on 2 cylinders, dried it up checked the spark plugs, they were ok just gave them a quick scrub and then it ran better still with the idling problem, checked all the vac pipes and boost pipes with a mate of mines to find mine were all plugged in different and some not atall, connected them all correctly and it's running spot on bargain.....
it has the following :
toad alarm and immobaliser
front mounted HKS intercooler
forge blue silocene hoses
fuel presure regulator
boost guage
HKS turbo timer
HKS FCD
HKS Ajustable Actuator
strut brace
momo steering wheel with boss kit
custom paint job with blue flake through it
lowered 40mm
5 inch jap exhaust
15 inch volvo wheels resprayed in gunmetal grey
power comes on totally different after engine change?
