  1. Damn sportif's with no rev counter :p

Oh i have a rev counter.......i just don't trust its acuraccy 100%. When i'm raising the limit, i REALLY want to know what it is to start with, don't fancy getting it wrong and overdoing it for obvious reasons. :p

  2. around 6200

pointless taking it that high though in my opinion as you're out of the powerband

I'm hoping that will change once the rolla manifold is on and the motec is mapped. It's being wired in on monday but i need to know what the stock rpm limit is so i know how much i can safely raise it by.

  3. I think what he meant was does this toyota tool turn the diagnostics box into a pseudo-OBDII port... IE. can you get all the sensor data from the tool?

Yes, that's what i meant, lol. Oh well, if it wasn't compulsory til 2001 then not to worry. Back to the laptop through the motc when it's fitted then. Was hoping to use one of these gizmo's though as they're a lot smaller than a laptop.

  4. Yeah there is an adaptor for the Toyota IT (inteligent tester) Using the tester in data list form gives you all those details, injector rates, ignition degrees, coolant temp ect ect. Pretty sure its a special Toyota part though. We have it in the work for the "old skool" cars :D:p ;)

Do you mean it converts the stock toyota plug to an OBD II port?

  5. Only the port under the bonnet im afraid (old skool) There is an adaptor for that plug though or just bridge the terminals....TE1 and E1 im sure ;)

....Or is it TC1 ,lol cant remember

LOL, you were right the first time. It's not a diagnostic test i'm after. I've been looking at a gizmo that plugs into a OBD II port and reads off of the sensors in real time to give you info on water temp, rpm, speed, etc. whatever sensors you have on the car basically.

I thought every car post 96 was supposed to have one, they obviously missed the starlet. :p

  6. @mark edwards. i have asked about the injectors before and it is kinda pointless upping the injector size as the engine will not max out the standard ones. but if you are fitting the mappable ecu like you mentioned then yes it may work out better.

    4efe= 195cc

    4efte= 295cc

not sure what the glanza s runs though.

    i think!!!!

Thanks my friend, should be able to work it out from that.....if i can remember how to do it.

  7. good info joz. the glanza s is the same as the 4efe we use here with four differences.

    -inlet mani

    -ecu (with higher rev limiter)

    -bigger injectors

    -distributorless ignition

    2 questions.........

What size are our injectors and what size are the jap ones?

And about the distributorless ignition. Does it use individual coils on top of each plug or wasted spark from a single coil?

  8. it will be in a fusebox somewhere. i dont know where it will be. take the top off all the fuseboxs you can see and look at the back of it, there will normally be a diagram of what fuse does what and same for the relays.

its probably just burnt out. stick a new one in and it will be fine.

Excellent, thanks mate, i shall see what i can find.

  9. just mearly putting my opinion across

And until someone can prove it one way or the other that's all any of us can do.

Mine should be starting it's diet soon so that'll help. Speaking to Corbeau about fitting my pro series seats into mine.

Lightweight wheels help to as there's less weight to turn so the Enkei's are a big help. There's a lot more to it than just power. The glanza's have a major torque advantage over an n/a though which us n/a owners will never get around. :p

  10. ok im not into forum arguments over petty stuff as im not a child and i like to deal with things in real life and not bicker through a key board and a screen. i made a comment that a stop watch is inaccurate and you seem to have perceived that as me saying that you are not telling the truth about recording a low 9. i would love to be able to say my starlet runs that time but in all honestly i dont think it does.

and as for the cars i mentioned im fuly aware that they are lugging around more weight but i have driven both the cars and they would piss all over an n/a. simple as that. its not like im someone with a more powerful car slagging off n/a starlets, im a fellow n/a owner who does not feel that low nines is acheivable.

i will put it to you again that a stop watch is a very inaccurate way of measuring this sort of thing. thats not me saying that you are a retard and cannot use one. its me saying it is fucking inaccurate. simple as.

Oh trust me, i'm not arguing about any of it. Im definately a person to go by hard evidence not pub talk. I've had too much of it when i had my mr2, people saying it couldn't do what i said it could. But they soon had to shut up when it was proved time and time again at santa pod, ten of the best, the jtuner thrash and various times on a dyno in front of witnesses.

Low 9's from an n/a starlet might be possible i guess but i would like to prove it for myself. but yes, a stop watch to do it is a waste of time, you can never start it at the right time for starters and any innacuracy in the speedo will affect when you stop it too. The only way to do it is with proper gps timing equipment.

  11. My rear wiper doesn't work on intermittent. Now this obviously isn't a major problem but i would like to solve it. Anyone know if it's likely to be the stalk on the column or something the other end?

  12. yes very true. but do you really think an n/a would beat either of those two car i mentioned to 60. or that an n/a could run a 9sec 0-60?

I have no idea about the 0-60 time to be honest as it's not something i've even thought about trying to find out. As for beating either a focus or a passat, i have no idea on that one either really, neither are particularly fast cars. The only point i'm making is that the extra 55hp that the passat had was probably needed to overcome the weight difference anyway, the big difference would have come from the torque difference i should imagine. Weight has a hell of a lot to do with how fast a car accelerates and 600+kgs difference between the two cars is a very large amount.

  13. My dads old Sportif - 14" GT Wheels and a Green Cotton Induction kit, hit low 9's. Now I look back and think my phone's Stopclock was dodgy, but my dad says the Sportif was definitely quicker then my brothers SR which we haven't timed.

I should expect the sportif to be quicker anyway as it doesn't have all the electronics on it (extra weight) that the SR does.

  14. That does look really good mate, certainly a few things on there i'll be using for inspiration.

The TTE spoiler is on mine now and looks exactly how i wanted. I'll get some pics up at some point. Thanks again for selling, lol.
