right the car is off the road at the moment was runing a td04l on a 5e but the turbo packed up so im deciding to go with a new set up and runing a external wastegate whats the difference between them like price some are cheap and others are reli expenisve and how to i know what is the best for my car?

if your fitting a cat fit it as close to the turbo as you can the last time i had my nct in ireland i put a cat on underneat just after the downpipe and i ended up with two cats at the same time one after another and it still failed they have to get to a certain temp before they work i think its in around 200degrees

if the turbo is worn it will take longer to spool is it smokey or anything there could be an imbalance in the shaft

mine took ages when i had thee standard rad on the car i put a civic style triple core rad on and it heats up from cold in about 3-4 mins

whats the story with wastegates because my turbo packed up so im decideing to go with an external wastegate setup but when i was looking at them some are realy cheap like 84 quid on ebay and then i seen tial ones up around 800 quid i know there is different models of them but whats the difference from one to another

i remember when i was building my car after the first 5e went kaboom i was planing on using my old crank from that engine but the person building the car sed to me that the crank is matched to the block that if you use a different 1 it might not match up and run bearings just something to thing about i dont think you want another engine gone i dont no how true this is tho but that was what i was told

that is a savage build i love the detail gone into everything the fuel work is unreal and the turbo is savage maybe a bit to big best of luck with it

Finaly my build
Right i've been realy interested in seen what people think of my efforts at tuning my car right so we will get stuck in.
engine:
evo td04l turbo now gone new turbo planned custom spec
Custom spec cp pistons
lola steel rods (masive)
malhle clevite race bearings
550 cc injectors
uprated oil pump
something done to water pump aswell cant remember
greedy oil cooler with relocation for filter
block bored honed and cross lined
head has three angle valve cut
zep 2mm headgasket
toyota full engine gasket kit
tranmission:
cynos gearbox worst choice ever way too short but did yet it for 50 quid
lighted flywheel
race spec exedy gt4 clutch disk and 7000nm pressure plate
suspension:
bc rm coilovers
whiteline anti lift kit
power flex engine mounts
rear strut bar
c piller strut bar
and the one under the bonnet
brakes:
xyz 6pot calipers in anodised gold
286mm disks
braided lines
race pads from xyz
electronics:
three prosport gauges oil temp, oil pressure and boost
apexi avcr black edition
greedy emanage blue with 5 bar map sensor
interior:
two subaru wrx seats
double din radio with everything on it gps,tv,internet....

Right so thats my effort what do ya think
plan this year is to change the turbo to gt2835 or 2860 with 2 bar of boost get a diff in the box and just drive. A lot of time money and effort has gone into it,
