  1. Haha some of the figures stated for the CT9 are implausible, ever look at the turbine housing, ported or not, you cannot flow air to make more then 200hp. I ran CT9 hybrid 18 - 19 psi and that was around 170 - 180 real hp. Was quicker then a TD04 running 15psi.

  2. The boost curve will most certainly be different with the external wastegate. Boost will be held more consistantly and closer to if not same as target pressure therefore will be more airflow top end then was before. Best to jus' get checked and small tweak is all that will be required i guess.

  3. I don't think it will, infact i am 90% sure it won't. The way the compressor housing and turbine housing from a Subaru Td04 mate to the chra I don't think will fit. Also You need to check the size of the compressor and turbine wheels, I doubt they are the same size so to fit the housing's from a Subaru turbo onto MHI and vice versa.

A MHI TD04 and Subaru TD04 are very different like trumpets and trombones.

  4. I just find it weird that all the cylinders arent just a set diameter.

If you look at the difference in size in each piston, you will see that it's not a big difference, but when your talking precision, it's continents apart.

Think of mass production and the use of and life of the tooling. For cost effectiveness each one is used to it's limits to a set line that it won't go beyond, as the tool degrades so does the precision of the machining before the tool is replaced or refurbished.

  5. The HKS EVC does have setting options for internal and external wastegate setups! If the engine is not mapped I would do as said above, turn boost controller off and jus' run off the wastegate spring pressure if it's safe to do so.

  6. If you want a reliable stock engine you jus' have to get a thicker metal headgasket in there, this will take alot of stress of the con rods, pistons, bearings and fasteners and will take healthy boost pressure too, but good tuning will be required for sure. I'm for response and on the EP82 when i was on hybrid ct9 @ 18 odd psi, it was quicker then a ep91 running 15 psi on a TD04 in all respects.
