  1. Little update!

Went up to sheffield on saturday to grab a few more bits and ended up coming back with

    - ARC tmic (early christmas present off sam- thank you!)

    - bonnet cable (so i can finally get rid of the ugly tie wrap in the grill)

    - handbrake cables

    - din tray for when i finally get round to getting an english stereo

    - flat blade wiper adaptors

    - brand new front and rear blueprint brake pads

    - brand new oil filter

    - new scuttle panel because mine was cracked

    - near rear view mirror

    - another resistor card for the heater motor

Also took a bimble across the water to Cleethorpes to meet a few of the cleethorpes/gainsborough lot which was sweet, and picked up a sexy new wing of steve gt and a trd gearknob in exchange for my optional extra momo gearknob, i'm over the moon to have a nice rust free wing and cant wait to get it on- hope your happy with the gearknob steve :)

    here are a few pics;

I couldn't believe how much better she drove after putting the arc intercooler on! boosts up a hell of alot quicker and holds boost alot better. Would definitely recommend them as a good top mount!

I needed a new resistor card because my heaters would only blow on the HI setting and on all other settings there was nothing. The sliding switch for the heat setting was fine and all the individual setting switches were fine, was just the blower intensity that wasn't working. And it turned out the resistor card was the wrong fitment for my GT, think it was because the one it came from had climate control (more settings) and mine doesn't. When i actually got mine out though it turned out one of the filaments had just popped off, and only needed a bit of careful soldering and BOOM, jobs a good 'un! so i took it to uni this morning with me and soldered it back up and re-soldered all the other junctions to make sure it was all nice and strong.

    Here's a pic of the resistor card and ceramic block, and where it fits into behind the glove box;

Hopefully will have the new wing, bonnet cable and front brakes done by next week if i find the time, gets dark waaay to early now and i'm at uni loads :)

  2. Lol! I never said THEY ALL come with an LSD as standard. Hence why I said "You might have LSD as well, because some of them come with them from the showroom".

And with your engine, actuator, ecu and fueling system being near standard it won't be running a bar of boost and if it is i'd be kind of concerned with it lass

At what point have i mentioned anywhere that it was you saying it came with LSD? it's a common misconception and a lot of people just assume they come with it as standard.

And as i've said, i don't know until i get a boost gauge on it what it's actually boosting, but i'm taking a stab in the dark and saying it's not standard boost. I may be wrong, don't know yet.

Don't worry, it will fuck up sooner or later then everyone can have a little giggle behind my back, well those who seem to have a problem can anyway.

  3. Haha, I'll be selling springs/shocks together, all new less than 3 weeks ago. Car will be on coilovers for next year. What bits did you pick up from sheffield?

    D

Yeah keep me in mind, i'll be interested :(

Fair few little bits like fuse card for heater motor and rear view mirror and random stuff like that, but got an arc tmic for £50 and it's pretty much mint. brand new toyota brake pads all round and toyota oil filter, new scuttle panel because mine is jaff'd, bonnet cable and handbrake cables so i'll be able to park my car safely on hills now :D haha, loads of other random little bits too :p

  4. The decals are definitely staying! i love them!

she will be lowered at some point, just not any time soon.

Get some Tein Springs Charlotte. They give a nice sensible drop and feel great without sacrificing comfort. I've a set on my glanza and never have any clearance issues at all. Keep an eye out for a set. Or wait till after christmas and i'll have mine for sale lol

    D

ha dibs on your springs after christmas! it will be around that time that i'll be doing a fair few bits anyways, clutch, cambelt kit etc so i will probably end up banging some springs on while i'm there :(

Just got back from picking a few more bits up from sheffield, will get some pics up when the new bits are fitted :p

  5. Some advances come with them as an optional extra etc so yeah some do come with em

Looks. Nice n tidy future plans?

yeah that's true, just trying to avoid people assuming that all advances have lsd boxes as standard :)

better manifolds as soon as money permits, new clutch over christmas because i think the one thats on it might be on it's way out :). in the long run T25 turbo maybe, forged internals, rx7 intercooler maybe, civic rad, possibly see about putting N/A cams in (longer duration, more torque and power etc). nothing set in stone yet just toying with ideas at the minute

  6. So i thought i'd start a build thread biggrin.png
Finally got my hands on a GT Turbo 3 weeks ago, and have been in love with it since i saw it. I've had a Y reg, 1 litre, mk 2 clio since i passed my test, and for all the stick renault get for being shit, it was an absolute little work horse and i do still miss it sort of... smile.png So after decided i would buy the GT, i put the clio up for sale and it sold within 24 hours, and the money i got for my clio just covered how much i paid for the GT (gives you an idea of how much of a steal the GT was)
Anyways, the GT had been sat in the lads garage for nearly a year without moving, when i went to see it we got it out, fired up first time and took it down the road, and it drove like a dream- no crunches from the box, no smoke on start up, boost or overrun. It wasn't taxed or tested though, so got it trailered to my end of Hull and had it in for test a few days later. Flew through MOT apart from one of the rear callipers was jaff'd. it came with spare rear callipers anyways, and the MOT tester was errrm... sympathetic tongue.png.

Obviously drove it non stop for about 3 days, but it wasn't running up to temperature, was cold unless it was sat ticking over, so got on the old e-dogg and ordered a new thermostat which cured the problem straight away. Other than the dodgey thermostat, it came mechanically sound, and i've not had another bother with it since (mechanically...)

It is more or less standard, standard turbo and intercooler etc, but it has had the air con removed, and it has a hks fcd fitted (set it back to normal though because it's still got standard manifolds and turbo and i don't want it to go pop!) And i think it's running about 1 bar of boost but not had a boost gauge on it yet so not sure, definitely not standard boost though. It has an LSD box (and no, advances DO NOT come with LSD boxes as standard!!!) and it has a momo interior, which all advances do have as standard. It also has a 3" jperformance cat back and a bailey dump valve.

Here are photos of it the day i got it tested and taxed smile.png

Relocated the air filter to the front bumper and got rid of all the pipes, and I purchased a bonnet off aaddzz123 a week ago (the one it came with was horrendous) sticker bombed hello kitty stuff everywhere, i know sticker bombing isn't to everyone's taste, and it might be coming off again soon, but i would like to say i make all the stickers myself and vinyl them on because i am THAT cool cool.png you want random shit making into stickers/sticker bomb sheets- you come see me wink.png Fitted a hks trubo timer as well, it seems to be possessed and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't lol.

I know it's on stilts, but right now i can't afford lowering springs, and to be fair there are other things i'd rather spend my money on like oil change, gear box oil change, cambelt kit etc. Plus there isn't any sense in lowering it this time of year, the snow gets really bad round my little village and i'm not ploughing the roads for free!

Would like to say a big thank you to my better half, Sam. Most of the involved mechanics and knowledge come from him, i'm not daft i'm just not a mechanic, and i owe alot to him.

And that's as far as i've got with it so far as funds are running abit low at the moment, collecting a load more bits over this weekend though, so will update soon!

  7. hey guys. yea according to my boyfriend your on the right lines. start furthest away from the master cylinder. dont worry about having the engine running. if you can try and remove as much fluid from the master cyl reservoir as possible. use a syringe or something to that effect. then put your new fluid in the empty reservoir. go the passenger side rear of the car and crack off the bleed nipple. (yes he said nipple) using a 8mm ring spanner and a piece of hose (vacuum hose maybe) submerge the other end of the hose into a container with brake fluid in it. get an assistant to press the brake pedal. when the pedal is fully depressed close the nipple. then get the assistant to lift their foot off the brake. then open the nipple again and ask the assistant to depress the pedal again. carry on doing this process until the fluid runs clear. dont forget to keep topping up the reservoir. carry on doing this for the remaining callipers working from the furthest away from the master cyl.

stick to this method and you should be fine. :p

  8. hey guys. my boyfriend has recently stripped and reconditioned my spare set of callipers. he said that when you put the new pads in be sure to use the hand brake to adjust up the pads. there is a dog bone shaped thing inside that keeps the auto adjuster together. if the auto adjuster is stiff or seized the auto adjuster will fall to pieces if it is forced out by fluid pressure (foot brake applied). be sure that the piston winds back far enough to put the new pads in and line up the little bobble thing on the pad with the groove in the piston. if your piston does not wind back in chances are the auto adjuster has come to pieces inside. hence strip and re assemble the adjuster.

be sure to wind the piston back in clock wise and push in at the same time. hope this has been of some use to someone. :p

il see if he can get some pics of the calliper in pieces and explain better what happens.

  9. hah welcome along to the forum charlotte! tell sambo to be active on here aswell!! he will be able to look at stuff for you too then :) i wish i could help with your hunt for parts but as you know i have a glanza so i cant :D

Nice to see you on here anyway! its an awesome community and everyone is sound as a pound!!! :(

Also do uhave the vac lines plumbed in for a boost gauge? if so i have a spare booost gauge that you could borrow just to figure out what boost your running?

    Dan.

sorry dan only just seen this, yeah gonna have to get sam on here lol. i picked up a boost gauge and turbo timer from a guy who breaks nissans in derbyshire (went with sam last week to go grab some bits for the almera build) so i've got a boost gauge, it's the vac pipes that are the problem, they're old and split and generally jaffed so soon as i come across some spare lying around i'll have it done, i'll ask loftus if he has any lying around lol.

shall see you tonight if your off to ketch!

  10. im sure you will get it mint. yeah mines ok havent seen it for 3 weeks :)

i think we said we would have a meet in hull the next time as its been in cleethorpes the last 2 or 3 meets

    awh bless :(

ah awesome, i'll definitely be there then, be nice to put some more faces to names and see some sweet starlets :D

  11. yeah thats me. finally got one then, looks clean in the pic

thankyou :). yeah picked it up off a friend of a friend- been sat in a garage for a year, got it taxed and tested last week. straight swap for my y reg clio aswel :(

it's abit rough round the edges, bonnet is chipped to hell and rust patch on front wing but other than that sweet as a nut :D

    hows your gt going?
