  1. A bolt on turbo or supercharger kit would be awesome.

The TRD supercharger mentioned in the wikipedia entry was for the 1.8 1ZZ-FE. That's why I'm trying to find out if it'll be compatible with my engine - the 1.6 3ZZ-FE.

I did a bit of searching for turbo kits for the 1.6, but didn't find anything. Perhaps, again the turbo kits are specifically for the 1.8, in which case I'll need to know if the two are compatible.

  2. Hey Enzo!

Unforunately my engine isn't from that series.

If we're gonna talk model numbers, here's what I know so far:

    3ZZ-FE (My Car)

    Displacement: 1598cc

    Bore: 79.0mm

    Stroke: 81.5mm

    Power: 109hp

    1ZZ-FE (The slow Celica)

    Displacement: 1794 cc

    Bore: 79.0mm

    Stroke: 91.5mm

    Power: 140bhp

    2ZZ-GE (Corolla T-Sport)

    Displacement: 1796 cc

    Bore: 82.0mm

    Stroke: 85.0mm

    Power: 190bhp

The 3ZZ and 1ZZ share the same engine block from what I can tell from searching on the net, but I'm looking to know what other parts they share. Fueling system? Exhaust system? Parts that third partys have made for the larger engine that might still fit mine.

I belive the 2ZZ-GE is has a different engine block than the others, but I'm wondering if they perhaps share some parts because the Corolla T-Sports have a lot more after-market parts available than the lowly 1.6.

An example of the info I'm looking - if the T-Sport (2ZZ-FE) had a better intake manifold than the 1.6 (3ZZ-FE) or 1.8 (1ZZ-FE), but how they fitted to the head were the same, then I could upgrade mine. If the intake manifold gaskets for the engines are all the same, chances are everything would fit fine.

  3. First of all I just have to say, 'It's been a while!'

I logged in after quite a while only to be greeted by a '43,695 New Posts' message! That's a lot!

    Anyway,

As probably none of you will remember I am driving a pretty sluggish stylish 1.6 Corolla and am looking a little extra go.

I'm wondering if anyone here would have any knowledge of other Toyota's, their engines, and what parts from the bigger engines that may be compatable.

If anyone here actually works in a Toyota garage and may have access to part numbers and specifc details then that would be great.

If this isn't the right place to be asking for help on this stuff, then point me in the right direction - Does anyone know of any hardcore 'rolla forums where the members will have technical knowledge of the cars they own? Searching the TOC forums has been a deadend for specifics!

    Thanks in advance,

    Rob

  4. i think im mising your point foggy bud, december 89 was when the ep82 was introduced???????

My bad! I thougth it was the early 80's, say 82.

You can see where my confusion came from.

Also, correct me if i'm wrong, isn't the Saxo VTS only 120 Bhp. The 130 Bhp GT/Starlet should def have the edge there, esp. with the extra tourqe due to the turbo charger.

  5. i have to disagree, i think on they are comparible right through the range if you think about it in terms of when they were manufactured, the weight and specs on power outputs

the 82 was releaesed in 1989 thats two years difference.

That's like saying you could compare a Model T Ford to a Focus if it someone rebuilt a Model T this year.

When it was made is irrevelant. When it was designed is the important factor.

  6. You's guys have to remember that the susspension setup (perhaps the chassis, but not 100% sure) of the N/A Starlet, Glanza and GT hasn't changed since the introduction of the EP82. That's a 1980's design. 11 years older than the 106/Saxo's 1991 designed suspension.

The engine in the starlets are also a pretty old design too.

It's hardly a fair comparison in the first place.

  7. So that isn't an actual T-Sport then? the VVTi-L? Still, a stunning colour!

Unfortunatley not. The insurance i'm paying for this one is steep enough as it is.

    nice colour.

a mate has just bought a t-sport compressor, will get a ride in it soon.

agree with sparky though, i do like 70miles a day on my 200sx and i'm looking for a wanky little petrol (1.0 micra etc) or a wanky old diesel estate/van (escort, mondy, 306, astra etc) as the petrol is destroying my bank balance, plus sod comfort, im usually half asleep anyways :D

I'd love a T-Sport Compressor! I really love my car and 200+bhp would be great in it.

Because my insurance is so much (only 1 year ncb, and living in a 'high-risk area') I can't afford to pay for two policys and do the car-for-the-commute-car-for-the-weekend thing, so I went for the almost-new-warrantied-good-looking-sensible-commuter-car thing.

Thanks for all the nice comments people.

  8. goin to see sir dave in aberdeen tomorrow night, should be great craic

    Dave Clark is a LEGEND!

And DJ Rush. The stuff he plays will scare little kids. HEAVY!

Is there anyone into spinning a few vinyls on here?

Used to be a bit of a bedroom dj. Still have my Numark TT-200's from a few years ago, but never have the time to use them.

  9. Dark, deep, dirty beats including (but not limited to) house, progressive house, deep house, dark house, tech house, hard house, glitch house, anthem house, brit house, trance, progressive trance, symphonic trance, anthem trance, epic trance, dutch trance, deep trance, tech trance, break trance, dark trance, hard trance, techno, german techno, italian techno, swedish techno, japanesse techno, hard techno, deep techno, progressive breaks, chemical breaks, big beat, some d 'n' b, some electronic ambience.

Also into Metal (not to thrashy please), Classical, Blues, some Hip-Hop genres and some trip-hop.

Can't flipping stand all this generic 'indie rock' pish that's being pumped out at a rate of 5 new bands a day at the moment!

Check out http://techno.org/electronic-music-guide/ for examples of the above electronic genres!

  10. I have to say, they do look good.

But I think a wheel with more spokes would suit the car better.

Could someone stick these on it so I have an idea of how they might look.

    keiforce10silv.jpg.w300h284.jpg

This was the only pic i could get of them from straight on, and it's the wrong color, the colour I'm thinking of is this:

    force10hb-big.jpg

Perhaps you could apply a mask to the top of the wheels to make them look darker like the above pic.

If anyone comes across a straight-on pic of the force 10's in hyper black, post them up.

    Thanks in advance!

    [edit]

I'm also interested in seeing how some dark 7 spoke wheels will look. If anyone knows of any good looking, dark, 7 spoked wheels post a pic/the name of them up so I can check them out.
