sosolid
So 10degrees is base setting. So if I Advancing or retarding by 2 degrees what will happen? Mines got full mods ct9 hybrid and ecu.
karl.
Retarding will loose power and increasing will make more power but the chances of melting a piston or cracking a ring land is much higher. Don't hold me to that though it's just what I've gathered from reading
AdamB
It will alter the powerband slightly.Rule of thumb: retard = more bottom end torque , advance = more top end torque. Advance and retard it 2 degrees, see what you think.
sosolid
Yeah ive got a picture of the Toyota Service Information and it shows that you can retard or advance by maximum 2 degrees either way but 10 degrees is bang on. It shows you need to short-circuit the T and E1 connectors at idle to play with the timing.
funny onion
Yeah lock the timing by bridging the ports or it will jump about and you can't set it. timing strobe and adjust the dizzy. mine ran like shit on anything other than 10 deg so i left it at that in the end! 5e colin
use a knock device if your going to advance on a turbo
AdamB
use a knock device if your going to advance on a turbo You don't really need to worry about a couple of degrees, only worry about that when you're near the limit of detonation.
