If I was to take the rocker off to paint would it be an idea to change the gasket at the same time, dunno if it's been removed before so don't know what state it would be in? Cheers

Always best to replace it. Even then they still tend to weep oil.

I put a thin layer of oil proof sealer round the seal aswell and its all good.

Same again while it's off it would be silly not to. To me it's safe practice if u take something off with a seal on it replace it

Unless it's leaking from the spark plug seals, or they looked damaged, I would leave them be, they are a pain in the arse to remove.
