4-efteNL
Hi all, im from Holland and new to the forum. since this morning my 4-EFTE swapped EP82 started really badly, had to turn over the starter like 20 times before it sputtered into life. when i start to drive the acceleration gets cut on about 15% throttle, this lasts, about 5 mins till the car is warmed up i guess. Also, it has been smoking clear white smoke for a while now. (about 2 months) Oil usage is quite high i would say, about one complete refill per 2 months-Ish. My car smokes ALL the time, on every occasion. occasional puffs come out the exhaust then its gone for like 2/3 secs, then a white puff again. Anyone got ideas? mods are: FMIC 2.5 inch custom exhaust stainless Stock ECU Stock Internals Stock CT9 (revised) Autobahn88 Exh mani. Sudden
Are the wires to the 2 wire coolant temp sensor, or one of the wires to the 3 wire coolant temp sensor (depending on model) broken? is there a check light?
maerijn
Check sparkplug colours?

Where can i find this? there is no check engine light at all by the way. I have tried to start on various days, seems that it only has a rough start when it's been raining like crazy and the temp outside is cold. on warmer days it starts almost instantly. Also my wastegate on the CT9 has been acting weird. it's open in 1st to 4th gear until i really hit it on the freeway, then it closes and the turbo sounds normal. might it be that when my wastegate is open at night, my internals get moist and it starts rough??? 4-efteNL
Little update: I checked the rotor arm with my brother in law this morning, and the contacts are worn. So it's probably the issue, we are going to try and sand them a little bit to get em sharp again. I hope it will work because 4efte parts are rare in Holland... 5e colin
Bad ignition. NEver causes white smoke not even when running on 3 cylinders
maerijn
I would buy a new distributor cover from Tuningdevelopments, they are not that expensive.. Is it a standard wastegate actuator? How is is hooked up, is the low/high solenoid still connected? Your wastegaste should be closed during normal driving

4-efteNL
Ok so a little update: I got a new OEM rotor + distributor cover, starts great again. but the smoke still stays.. I'm gonna do a compression test to see if i have the dreaded "blow-by", i think that might be one of the problems.... PS: if anyone on this forum who is from Holland needs parts for his 4EFTE, you can order them at the local Toyota dealer! They were there the next morning, apparently they have a depot in Belgium where Glanza parts are lying around. Who would have thought that!
