K24_glanza
I am looking for a live to switch a relay to power an electric power steering pump. I need the pump to come on after the engine is running. Thanks in advance. Peter
jayc-glanza17
Surely you would have a switch wired off relay so you can manually switch it on or off?
Stu
You can used a delay timed relay - fairly easy. Which PS unit are you using? Most seem to have a speed input so that they vary the amount of assist so you don't lose road feel
K24_glanza
So I have found a live from the alternator that is only live when the engine is running. I started trying to use a saxo pump but have now got a mercedes A190 pump. It takes up less space and is easier to mount. The speed input makes so much sense now. The pump has its own relay with two thin wires one moves the relay and the other was a mystery until now. Thanks mate. Just Need to find a speed output now.

Maybe pull something off the back of the speedo?
K24_glanza
There is a speed input to the ECU.
Stu
That's a square wave output from the red switch inside the gauge cluster. The output is not super clean (I've data logged it before) but might work :)
