rmsnoel Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Just wondering what parts would i need to take off a glanza to fit rear disc brakes into a SR? Also how much should i expect to pay for secondhand parts etc.
SiCaln Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 i paid £150, you can either get the whole axle or, like i did, just get the hubs, discs, callipers and pads, brake lines, emergency handbrake cableeasy direct fit took me and a mate 4hrs along with draining the brakes and swapping to braided lines
whitestarlet Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 as far as i am aware and i was told this at tec. rear drums are as affective as discs up till around 70mph so if you are doing a bit of track racing you would see a benifit! but i must admit they look a lot better on the rear than what the drums do!!
SiCaln Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 cant say the difference is overly noticeable on daily driving, but at the same time i did do braided lines and 5.1 fluid, so big improvement there and better looks lol
dac69er Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 as an actual handbrake the drum is superior.also generally less problems occur with drums as apposed to discs.if you want to do handbrake turns and slides the drums would be better.
Guest Enzo Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 i actualy disagreee, i hound my brakes quite alot and the difference between my sr and glanza is quite noticable, used to have the same view as alot of you but.
Shaun Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 drums are better for normal use better than disc but when you hammer a starlet and put on the brakes hard you can fill the ass end twiching when you got drums on the back
dac69er Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 properly setup drum brakes are plenty good enough.
