ste91
I've heard about these different engine bay cleaner things, but is it ok to just clean the bay with simple washing up liquid?I'm not planning on doing a super duper shiny job but just get all the muck off, after going through some big muddy puddles recently the engine bay is filthy and covered with splatter marks, aswell as oil on the cam cover from the last oil change. Oh and ten years of general grime and muck around the bay that probably hasn't ever been cleaned. So will it atleast get some of the muck off with some washing up liquid and giving it a good scrub or will it need something a bit stronger?

keirz
just use some wd40 mate. will clean every thing well and you wont have to worry about getting water in anywhere it shouldnt be. can just spray it every where no worrys
ste91
So just spray WD40 on it and scrub it with one of those hard scrubbing brushes? And then normal soapy water on the other bits (that are painted the same as the rest of the car)?
Idrees
Halfords 3 in 1 deegreaser is really good for cleaning your engine bay Ste.

ste91
Cheers lads, WD40 it is then (for now atleast). No point going mad on it as it will most probably get mucky again with it being winter and everything. Will have to get some of that 3 in 1 or some Gunk once the bad weather buggers off though... fucking muddy puddles make everything a mess.
Asad
I agreed with idrees tried that stuff works a treat except on the rocker cover but that shits baked on so only a re-spray will get rid of it.dont forget around the battery area from what i have noticed they tend to get quite rusty around there.
