ste91
http://www.torquecars.com/tuning/water-injection.phpAm I going mad or is that article talking about spraying water into the engine? That article has to be a joke?
Sparky
They use water injection alot on high power cars mate, mostly high power YB Cossies, and I remember at the rolling road day I went to many a year ago Fensport had it on their Corolla
Dave@TM-Developments.com
No its not a joke. Water injection sprayed as a very fine mist lowers the intake charge and combats detonation. Have you ever noticed how a turbo car goes better on a cold damp night
ste91
So the water is actually going INTO the engine? Or have I just read it wrong?Surely water + air + petrol does not mix very well? Or does the water just turn to steam?been awake since yesterday afternoon so probably talking nonsense
BAZ2CRAZY
works very good, the water mist has a latent effect on the air around it, cool mist, cools the air around it, which makes it denser, more O2 = bigger bang i wouldnt want to be the guy setting it up though! ste91
I know all about cool air being better, I am just confused about putting water into the internals of an engine as I have always thought it was a big no-no.
Sparky
Its hardly like a hose going into the engine It sprays like a mist the same as injectors Hence why one of the big W.I company's is called AquaMist
TSP
It basically gives the effect of driving on a cold misty day. Works well on big power YB's as Sparky says and also CVH's which are 20 odd years old now. YB's are running 1000bhp ish in Scandanavia and for an engine that was designed such along time ago to do that it needs all the help it can get!
200sx-Starlet-Jay
correct, as spark said, people assume that "squirting" water in is like a water pistol shooting in. no way near as much or as concentrated as that. as its been said, a realy realy fine mist. your car takes the same in on damp misty foggy or rainy days!ger it darn ya i say
Si@Fiske
Water Injection is the wins mate!
ste91
Did some more reading on it after, I had got the wrong end of the stick lol I didn't realise it's sprayed as a mist and not actual water droplets or like a hose spraying it.
Si@Fiske
lol
ste91
Is anyone here using it on a Starlet?
Si@Fiske
not that i know of... its one of my plans for the near future.. hush hush
Galliano
i was on SSS (local club) and a guy just bought a GTFour Celica and was told it can be set as high as 1.4bar, but another dude told him its not trust worthy without having a water injection, im like "IRONIC" as you posted this a few days before
