Kennedy
Does anyone on here work for O2?I've got a bit of a question i couldn't find the answer to in the help section on the O2 site.... I'm looking at moving to O2 as my current contract with Vodafone is nearly finished (20th of this month)Now I want to keep my number so i'll need my PAC code from Vodafone....Can I start a new contract now and transfer my number at a later date or do i need to wait till I have my PAC code before starting a new contract to keep my number? Craig_N
Kennedy you should be fine to transfer the number at a later date i work at the o2 call centre mate and it shouldnt be a problem mate. Although i would double check with them when you go to get the contract.
addz
When your vodafone contract expires tell them to send you a PAYG sim, this sim will obtain same number BUT will evidently be pay as you go.Once you've got an o2 contract they will supply you a sim with a fresh number. Keep this number till you fancy changing it from your voda. So by keeping your vodaphone sim on PAYG means it's still your possession and can do whatever you want with the number. So when the mood strikes and you fancy number transfer contact voda, get a pak sent out, inform o2 with PAK - be patient for a few days while transfers successful. Job done.

Asad
yup simple as that ^ did mine like that but o2>orange (best move ive ever made unlimtd txts FTW!)....was told i had 22days? to transfer my number and did it all over the phone. O2 tried to sweetn me up and keep my custom by giving me a better package on pay as you go etc etc....just be firm and demand you PAK code
Craig_N
Kennedy be carefull because if you get your pak code it only lasts for 30 days and if you dont use it and you have already cancelled the vodafone contract you carnt get another one. As said above it does take up to 2 days to change. And you can do this by calling o2 customer care.Craig
addz
Thats why you tell them to dispatch vodafone sim on PAYG (same number) - that way you can opt to change numbers with PAK when suits you.

shelly_star
OK i recently cancelled my orange contract, well i put in a months notice on it, and i asked orange whether i can get a pak code for my number they said it's not possible to give out the pak code :S so i was like ok.... its only because i didnt want to upgrade with them as they did such shitty upgrades choices, and as i rang again to cancel my contract they got all shitty with me and said oh we could've made you this offer etc etc i was like........... you didnt give me those choices before i decided to cancel, so i think thats why they didnt want to give me a pak code. I said i've opened up a brand new contract which is on orange anyway but through e2save as so much cheaper. So anyone know whether this is right that they cannot transfer my number?! Driver
some companies cannot request a PAC (Port Authorisation Code) after a disconection has been placed onto a system as if you dont use pac before discon goes thoguh the pac becomes invalid and visa versa best thing to do is to call and cancel disconection then call back and request a PAC so theres no disconection on the account allthough if they guess what your doing they may get arsey about it
addz
When cancelling or contract is due to end always request a PAYG sim, this sim will obtain same number as your contract. Only that your still a valued customer and can get PAC code without too much of a problem. Just thought i'd mention it, again.Always worked for me
Guest cheshireglanza
At the end off a contract you will get a pay as you go sim with your old number on and when you tell a phone company that you want to cancel they will offer you the phone you want my gf works in 20:20 who sell orange,o2,3g etc phone contracts when i asked her to cancel mt contract they did me deal off 600 min free texts to any one in uk for 20 quid month wigh new phone

Kennedy
My mate from work always get replacement phones if they are broken (obviously not dropped down the stairs sort of broken). Calls them up with an issue and they sort it. Even offered him a new phone now half way through his contract.
