Well thats why your went through, it clearly states for a 94 a non cat test is needed. July 95 onwards cat test needed.

yeh but pre-cat tests are pre 92 on normal cars arn't they?

or is the pre 95 thing for import cars only?

It makes no difference import or not, it is if the specific limits information is present on the VOSA database.

sva test is like a harder mot test they do to imports of a certain age over 10.

either way i know the gt's need basic emissions test which unless smoking their nob off cant fail so sorry for the misunderstanding david so its the gt's that dont need a cat test then

Can't understand why you'd wanna go somewhere slightly dodgy, doesn't say much for setting a good example, why not get it done properly????

I imagine its due to the fact people running a td04 etc would either have to swap there whole manifold/turbo/decat setup or get a cat welded into there current exhaust.

A lot of work to swap it and back over after the mot.

For the sake of a friendly MOT i think its worth it. Im not sayin miss any other issues just emissions.

All my MOTS have been fully legit though.

I can understand that, but if the actual customer explained the situation to an MOT tester without any bullshit, they'd be able to bypass the emissions test. Rather than going through the hassle, it's easier to be truthful and in turn it pays

i highly doubt that an MOT tester will "bypass" an emissions test because you go to him and say i think my cars going to fail on emissions and its too hard work toswap the cat/turbo back over etc

what MOT centre have you been going to that does that lol

Not the whole emissions test, there's something on the test that they can bypass, they used to do it with my corsa being a non standard engine for the car, i'll find out a little more tomorrow
