bucketep91
firstly didnt know where to post this so sorry if its in the wrong secctiontook my car to AVA thismorning to have my FPR and FCD fitted and set up to a bar. so initially he quoted for 2 hours labour to do the job at 40 quid per hour so i thougt fiar enough and handed him the keys. he called back a few hours later when i was at work and says he was having problems with my ic pipe poping off so couldnt set the fueling properly. i went down and even though he couldnt set the thing up he still wanted to chanrge me 3 hours labour? and 60 quid for an hour on the rollers? so 180 basically to fit a fpr and fcd without setting it properly! somthing i could have done myself!so my cars boosting to .9 bar now and fuck knows whats going on with the fueling!WTF? I have never had any problems like this yet but if i do i would stand my ground. The garage i use are pretty friendly and i know them all well so most of the time i just hand my car over and say 'there it is fix it!' i never specify a price but as i know them then i trust them. If i didn't know them i would get a price before hand like you did and would jope they contact me if its going to require more work.Jason

Sparky
Same story with me & Weston Performance mateHiw much to have my EMB mapped and AVCR set for a bar?? He says £300, I say fine book me in.2 hour drive, drop my car off, go home. Drive back there on the weekend to pick the car up with £300. Get my invoice £434. I was like we agreed to £300 so I only brought that much. Well its an extra £100 to set up the AVCR and plus the VAT he says, he says call it £400 then and pay £100 by card, still £100 more than I should be paying I thought to myself Anyway drove home and realised the car wernt right. Was boosting like a fucking TD06 or something!! Numptys wound my actuator out so it was hardly boosting until 4.5k rpm to make the tune easier for them!!!Rung them up and they wanted me to bring it back up there and pay for 2hrs on the rollers!! Fat chance!!
Sparky
Yea mate at the time I was actually getting it done GotBoost had just started out and I did mail them but was a bit weary as they are new. They have a pretty good rep now though fairplay but I think I will end up taking it to a Starlet Specialist next dont want another engine going

scot-ish
bucket, head to gmc in newton stewart, £40 an hour on the rollars, plus £30 an hour for tech whilst the cars on the rollers, even if you just go for a power run, they whack on the afr, and would give it a tweak, my mate is running fpr and FCD and he got 193bhp with them, his starlets been running 2 years with no probs, captain starlet it is on tgtt. pm him, im going to gmc next week hopefully for the same thing, im fitting it myself, just having them tweak the fueling and give me a power run. Chris250
Just a wee heads up about the place i'm working, GI Motorsport in Kilmarnock. We can offer everything from an oil chance to a full engine rebuild including mapping. we're currently building our range of management systems Vi-PEC and Autronic available buy the end of the month but as it stands we can map E-Manage, Power FC, and DTA. Not to mention boost controllers and every other gadget you can get for your car.OUR WEBSITE
