greggt
Basically had a starlet - loved it to bits and smiled everywhere I went driving it - got rid because of money problems - deeply regretted it and missed it badly - sobbed a lot - sobbed some more - a little bit more ....... then managed to get another one down the line Bought it from Birmingham and everything 'seemed' spot on... I was wrong.Modifications when Bought:15" Sparco Crimson lightweight wheelslowered on shocks and springs (unknown make, approx. 60mm drop?)Cat.Back Stainless exhaust systemTrust Air filter re-located to front bumperHKS Fuel Cut DefenderTRD engine mountsNGK ignition leadsBlitz Radiator CapExedy 3 paddle race clutch (brand new)TIM boost gaugeGrooved brakesLaguna splitterbits and bobs (momo gearknob, momo mat, couple of samco hoses etc)Most importantly: CAT.1 Auto watch alarm and immob. Then disaster happened. Under two weeks of ownership and the first time I took it to the top of its rev range, the rings went!! Sourced a low mileage engine locally with cambelt recently changed and got it home. The day after, the Starlet went under major surgery: ^^ She's bleeding! .... slight mis-hap, missing the oil drainer lol. Neighbours not too happy but meh ^^ The horses, have flee'd the stable! while all this happened, I recieved a couple of things in the post, just to rub it in my face that the car is nackered :1: HKS Super sound old skool Blow off Valve2: CUSCO Oil Catch tank-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The new Engine is now in, most of it is back together, about half an hours work and It 'should' be up and running.... Fingers crossed that nothing has gone wrong Another couple of things that have arrived in the post1: Blitz Full auto Turbo Timer2: Goombah mascot for my dashboard (for the sad, unfortunate people who do not know... he's off Mario) Although it's been a rough start, I've learnt a hell of a lot quickly as a bonus on the side, especially as the engine change was done by me and a mate outside the house on the road ;) Hopefully it'll go right from here onwards........ ;) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Up to date Spec list (11.01.2010) :14" Sparco lightweight wheels wrapped in Yokohama rubberlowered on shocks and springs (unknown make, approx. 40-60mm drop?)Cat.Back Stainless exhaust systemTrust Air filter re-located to front bumperAutobahn88 Front Mounted IntercoolerCusco Oil Catch tankHKS Super sound Blow Off ValveHKS Fuel Cut DefenderTRD engine mountsNGK ignition leadsBlitz Radiator CapBlitz Full Auto Turbo TimerApparent Jams chip (have my doubts, will check sometime)Exedy 3 paddle race clutch (brand new)Double Gauge - 'A' Pillar Pod housing a TIM boost gaugeGrooved brakesLaguna splitterbits and bobs (momo gearknob, momo mat, couple of samco hoses etc)Removed air con and De-wipered rearMost importantly: CAT.1 Auto watch alarm and immob..............................................................................................................................................FUTURE PLANS:Cupra R SplitterClear side repeatersPaint the wheels in a secret colour Rx7 top mount intercoolerMild steel manifoldDe-catHKS actuatorRRFPRGet the body work looking tip top and happy days

greggt
the joys of motering mate lol...i had to change an engine to,gearbox is next for me ;) .liking your plans for the future ;) I was going mad at first because to be honest I haven't got an amazing mechanical knowledge at all, just know basics and how to service a car. So to be thrown into changing the engine was a bit of a shock, couldn't afford to pay someone to do it either. Glad I've done it now though! I'm also going to strip the old engine down and see where the problem is, to learn further

DavidAshton
Id check shapish that that Jam Chip isnt an FCD with no fueling mods or you could be saying bye bye to engine number 2 if your running too much boost!
greggt
Id check shapish that that Jam Chip isnt an FCD with no fueling mods or you could be saying bye bye to engine number 2 if your running too much boost! It's all being checked over before I even tick it over for the first time. Also the FCD is being dis-connected.Until quite a few other things are on and set-up ;)

greggt
Cheers for the comments Found that one tyre is very low so this is either because theyve been sat for a while or its not holding pressure, wasn't told about this before I received them in the post.Going to put two wheels on today though to get a taster I'll post up a pic in a bit
greggt
Not very good pics but you can see the difference already and I'm 500% happier with the new ones rather than the crimsons. Will get some good pics when she's polished and up and running again. greggt
After seeing the wheel on, it reminded me of my old starlet that had black wheels with a polished rim..... soo I painted the GT badge red like my old one had Sad I know, but I miss the old one really bad lol!Nice little cheap mod I also found that if you try and take a picture of fire with the flash on your phone, you can't see it on the picture! amazing lol. greggt
Ahhh I don't know how you managed to get rid of the Sparco's dude, they look so nice!!I did like them a lot, but I personally prefer my new ones and wanted 14's Plus I want it to be 'my' car, rather than it looking like it did when someone else had it, So I can look at it and say 'yeh I did that'
Idrees
Totally understand where your coming from bud....but you could have just painted the Crimsons a different colour and said "yeah I painted them"
