ste91
The standard size tyre that comes on these wheels are 145/80/13 which is pathetic really. What width could you get away with putting on them? I think 155's would be ok but would 165's be possible?
Nayls
how wide is the wheel?
ste91
I'll go out and have a look in a little while.
ste91
It doesn't say, it's got the PCD and the ET but nothing about the width.

Nayls
It doesn't say, it's got the PCD and the ET but nothing about the width.should say something like 5j or 5.5j,it's sometimes on the side of a spoke but may be on the back of the wheel.

scot-ish
what is the fit of the tyres that are on? as in, do they look a stretch at all??
Sparky
Mate, just go put some push bike wheels on it job done
ste91
what is the fit of the tyres that are on? as in, do they look a stretch at all??The width of the tyres atm is 145 which looks about right if you look at the overall width of everything.I think you could get away with 155's on there quite easily, I'm just wondering if you could maybe get 165's on.Basically we've got a set of these wheels that came off my sisters car and I'm thinking of using them when I get another Starlet as it's only going to be a run around, but I really don't want to be going around on biscuit tin wheels so they need to be wider than 145. Raz
Is the tyre wall overhanging past the alloy/steel rim? If it isn't you might be able to get 165, but this depends on how the 145s are looking on it.Get some pics and i'm sure everyone will be able to tell. Meanwhile take it to a car tyre place and just ask the fitters how wide can you go or something and he will just tell you by looking at the wheels. ste91
They overhang very slightly but they don't have much air in them. I'd say you might be able to squeeze 165's over them.
Raz
when you do go to get newer tyres i'm sure you can ask the fitter what he thinks right?
ste91
Much easier to ask on here lol
Raz
Yea i agree with that lol, but if you go wider you may have to drop the wall size otherwise they might overhang stupidly
ste91
Thinking about it now it might look really silly. 155's are probably the best option, knowing they'll fit and not stick out too much. I'd much rather go for some 15 inch wheels anyway but seeing as it's only a run around I'd rather spend £50 on a couple of decent tyres and then have a full set of wheels & tyres instead of spending a couple of hundred quid. The more money I spend on the Starlet the less I have for the CRX.

Liam_D
165s should go them easily mate, although they wont be hardly any difference in terms of grip!!
starlet enterprise
165s should go them easily mate, although they wont be hardly any difference in terms of grip!!agree no grip difference really.165/65/13 you will get away with this. Its the tyre choice of ford kas. ste91
This is now irrelevant, I bought some 15 inch alloys with tyres for £50.
