Yes I'd recommend a GT, if you can afford to buy a Glanza then you'll be able to afford a good GT, and then you've got cheaper insurance.

It's basically the same car anyway apart from a few differences. The main one of course being the body styling, but personally I think GT's look great. I'd prefer a Glanza but GT's aren't ugly at all.

not at all mate! just as good looking as the V i've always had a soft sport for one in white

id definitely pay that extra little bit to just get a mint one, now you have got me thinking! haha

oh man people are confusing!

Buy SR an slowly mod or Wait to get a GT................... god knows >.<

just buy a glanza, take it from some one that nearly watched there fully modded colt crushed because i didnt insure any mods on it, i was almost crying in the pasenger seat of his volvo. it is worth the extra money to insure it properly and not shit your pabts every time you see a pig in the rear view mirror. he was gona crush my colt, firstly because i cleaned my car in the morning which ,loosend the tape on my front number plate, it fell off, he was going the other way, turned round kained after me, pulled me over gave me a massive bollocking. he then got a piece of paper, wrote down everything that was changed form standard, (v.long piece of paper) sat me in his car rang my insurance company and thank the lord for foreign call centres, he got passed from that many diferent departments and that many dif phone numbers he gave up in the end, swore alot and told me id got lucky ad i should go home insure it properly and he checked into it 6weks later.. take it from me i was unbelieveably happy id got away with that,

take it from me its definately worth paying the extra few hundred quid to do it properly!!!!

Hedge end seems the place to go :D Go over there now and then, usually in the summer months me and my mate go over to burger king for a shake and just chill in the generic kfc/mcd carpark that everyone hangs out in. :D

Haven't been over there in about 8 months now though, will be over there plenty when mines all up and running. In fact if its dry then i will be out and about driving it.

What you driving at the moment? Know what you mean about alfa's/fiats i had a Fiat Punto sx as my last car. Got rid after the 3rd gearbox in 3 months and went jap........never going back now!!!!!

Jason

atm its a mixture of lifts from my buddies and if i can get my mitts on my dads car! haha! but thats a 1.3 autoboxed accent coupe

so not really the best haha!

im sometimes out in a silver astra which is normaly around with a clio and a red saxo, but my bloody mate decided to wrap his car around a post not so long ago :/

do you know any good garages in the southern region which could do the engine conversion for me, i know about TD development and there a good enough team but there a touch too north, on the furthest side of Manchester! so a bit of a journey, i do have some mates who could do it for me but i wanna get it done properly come the time, thought about doing it myself but id get lost in the loom!

so ill leave it to the mechanics :D

Wait and get a GT mate - I was bored of my old non turbo Starlet after less than 6 months. Don't get me wrong they're great cars and I absolutely love them, they're just gutless in the power department. For a 1.3 they do go well, 40-60 in second gear was great for quick overtaking, and they'd do just find on a nice twisty backroad. But for straight line speed they just don't cut it compared to a turbo or bigger engined car.

i mean i sorta was a dick with my old alfa, had some mods on that which where not standard! nothing which was cosmetic, but you could notice the performance! probably why the engine had gone on it, that and i was a bit heavy footed with it :D

i dont want to have to shit it every time i see a piggy, which why im thinking SR with only the cosmetics, insurance is not that much changed and i can do the engine a bit later on, after ive let the insurance drop on it, but then again i could get a GT and have all the fun with a bit more on the insurance.

just gonna have to wait and see!

thats the only thing i would be a bit worried of :/ getting board of it too quick, i mean dont get me wrong, a really good car, but going from a 1.6 twin spark with some performance mods to a standard 1.3 might be a bit of a jump  but not in the right direction haha!

that GT just seems sweet atm :D

Im sure there are many garages about that can do the conversion. Im sure its not that hard to do yourself. If there are aspects that you can't do yourself then i would do what you can yourself then get someone to do the parts you can't do.

There is a place in Basingstoke that i use for all my stuff. Company called ToyotaGT. they started out specialising in the mr2 but now do all toyota and lexus engines/cars. The 'Demon' currently lives there and they have given me a great rate (normal price is £40ph) i work on it now and then with them and they do bits as and when i give them money. They also service/look after my lexus and have helped build my bro's 600bhp MR2.

to me, it seems no contest, either buy a sr with a piddly little engine that looks really good and really quick but that ='s getting raced by shitty saxo's, 106's, corsa's, clio's etc etc, i wont go on. and getting hamerd, or... spending the same amount on a standard glanza or a gt turbo, maybe having to keep it looking standard for a year but having the benefit of A. not having to race shitty saxo's, 106's, corsas, clios etc etc trying to race you in the first place and B. if anything does decide to try and race you, you can laugh all the way down the road whilst watching the tiny dot in your rear view mirror get smaller and smaller... i wont ramble but you get the picture...

im not to fused on fitting the engine myself and with the help of a couple of mates and a free weekend, there is not problems with that, its just all the small niggly bits i'd need to get sorted :/

where about in the relm of stokey is that place?

ive got a second house up there which is in chineham, so i can always leave my car up there or stay up there while they do the work.

i think i might have to go for an SR, just tried on the insurance for a GT and everywhere is giving me crazy quotes!

ill let you in a trick, i got my renewal quote from adrian flux of 980 summit quid, so i rang sky told them, they came back with around 840 quid, rang A.F back told them and they quoted me 700 ish, rang sky back and they quoted me 650. rang A.F and they said 605 and that was all they could go to, i bit there hand off. it seems adrian flux and sky must have some deep hatred for each other because they droped nearly 400 notes to get me unless im just special.

N/A Starlets are quick enough to muller most chavboxes anyway. With a Corolla inlet manifold and a few chassis mods they're great cars. Just as an example they can easily keep pace with a Saxo VTR up to about 80.

it is a tough choice but it u go get alot more quotes and like you say its still only a little difference then go for the v. but 200 pound difference doesnt sound right. depending on how long u been drivin etc your lookin at a fair whack at 18. im 20 and forkin out alot. lets just say it was 1200 before i told them about the engine lol. and thats for a sportif. insurance wise you would be better to go for an sr or ever just a modded sportif or similar model  and if it hadnt snowed on my 2 weeks off i would have had a decent speced one for sale but dont think it will be till march at least now.

most people that face the same situation usually buy an n/a and save for a while or buy bits that you can later swap to a cheap glanza.

mean!!! i dont know what you could meen by that........ lol. the system is there to be played, the dodgy bit is if they could have ofered me 605 quid int first place why when i first rang them did they say 980??? dirty!!! ive been with them for 3years aswell!!!

i dont think thats a bad idea, its normally always better to go for a standard car no matter what it is, which is why im thinking sr for a touch then a cheap glanza, but who knows!

i keep looking for glanza's around the 2k mark and they dont seem too bad, found one in leads for 2200 which was very niceeeeeeee :D

this one your thinking about selling whats the spec? and have you got any piccies? is that the sportif or a glanza? many many questions haha!

because i maybe interested :D
