i just re-set it, if it was bad it would of stayed on the system, i think i may have over boosted at some stage which cause it to go on, I've turned the actuator down and im going to give it a go tomorrow.

Right, its back on again now, would it come on if say the FMIC pipes knock against the gearbox or something??? or is it an internal problem???

knock sensors are quite delicate, it might be the case that it's a bit intermittent. so you reset and it's ok... you hit boost and it goes crazy again and puts the ecu into safe mode.

they can play up when ever, remember they are probably the original so pretty old. mine went in my old V. might just be good to replace it and see how it goes.

ok mate, im going to make sure no pipework is tapping the gearbox/engine give that ago, if not then il replace the knock sensor and see what happens. I've just been quoted £158 for a new one!!!

The wire on the knock sensor tends to get damaged easily, it has happened to my cars twice in the past. Is the wire on yours in good condition? It's the single wire on the left side of the inlet manifold that runs down.

lol i am with Idres on this, check the wiring on the knock sensor first (hes said 3 times to check!!), at the end of your fuel rail (on the left) its a single wire, it runs down to the sensor and is sat between your starter motor and alternator on the back of the engine.

Probably worth while, pulling the plug off, clean it, clean the terminals on the plug then put it back on,
