I've just taken the head off the car, and it looks as though i already have forged pistons in the block?????

Am i right in saying that all pistons have the two little cut outs on the tops??

i would assume so, there for the valves to seat in.

only way to tell is to take them out, check the sizing and rods.

looks standard to me. the cuttings in them are for the valves to clear if does slip/break. i think thats why anyway!

I've got all the paperwork from every service its had done on it since 12000 miles in japan?

and its got the standard head gasket on it.

mate, the valves dont seat in the piston, the seat in the valve seat

the "knotch/cutout" on the piston, is for clearance from the inlet valves, to stop them slapping the pistons.
